• Why do new Spongebob episodes suck so much?

I'm not really sure when it happened, but Spongebob has sucked really hard for the past two years or so. It seems so cheap now. It's like characters are just going through routine on all the new episodes. In the one that is on right now Squidward is teaching a music class at a college. An awkward combination of the episode where he taught Spongebob art and the other episode where he was already teaching a music class. In this particular episode I saw Patrick get into a toy train after an unexplained moment where he shrank down in size to ride it out of the classroom. Not even in a cartoon world does this make sense. And when Squilliam shows up he never een berates Squidward for posing as him to get the teaching job. It is like they are forgetting who the characters are supposed to be very quickly. Spongebob seems to change every episode from being the over enthusiastic kid he is supposed to be to a whiny bitch.
used to be funny before 2005 then it turned into a slew of lolz randum xD jokes.
Because a show can only run so long before it gets old.

They should shart making spongebob hemppants.

For the first one they used to have jokes. Random shit isn't funny and doesn't offer good plot devices. On this one they attempt to use tartar sauce as a plot device for a time travel episode. Not only is it retarded, but they totally muck up how time travel works. And you know what? Squidward already traveled through time and that was a good episode. I'm not saying you can't like it. "I don't like it" and "this is bad" aren't always synonymous. What new perspective? I have been watching this show and other cartoons my whole life. It isn't like I have outgrown it even at age 17. The show has just seemed to dumb itself down.

It sucks and the reason it sucks is because it's a cartoon that wants to die but Nickelodeon won't let it. The characters are the biggest problem, having been drained of all depth and originality and essentially becoming mindnumbingly predictable archetypes. They do what you expect them to do, and nothing more. Spongebob is basically the dictionary definition of a Mary Sue, Patrick just acts dumb all the time, Squidward is a punching bag who gets treated so badly for no reason that you actually start to feel bad for him, Mr. Krabs is never involved in a plot anymore unless money or Plankton is tied into it, and Sandy may as well just be killed off because she never contributes to anything anymore. In it's height (season 3 to the movie) it attracted an abnormally wide audience of both kids and adults. Today Nickelodeon doesn't even try to attract anyone other than very, very little kids. It's easy to see, over the past few years Spongebob went from taking up more than half the day on Nickelodeon, to being nearly non-existent at times when really little kids aren't going to be watching. It's quality has dropped significantly and shows no signs of coming back. You need to stop kidding yourself and move on.

The original creator of the series left quite a few years ago along with his bag of creativity. End of story.

The new episodes suck. The old ones are still good though.
Pretty much every TV show gets worse with age. [editline]10:53PM[/editline] Simpsons is a good example. I think it's almost time for that to go.
I remember the last truly awesome part to me was the episode that had the jellyfishes dance to Stadium Rave.
It's so depressing that this and The Simpsons have dipped in quality so sharply. At least Futurama is still good.
I wish they picked up My Name Is Earl again, seriously. He has to finish that list, and Randy is too awesome... Last episode ended with "To be continued" But so far it seems like they haven't find a sutiable network to work with yet.
I'm sure people having grown up has a lot to do with it, but I do agree they aren't as good as they used to. It does need to die, like The Simpsons and a bunch of other cartoons that have been on too long.
I don't think the fact that I'm 15 years old has much to do with it, I mean, I watch older episodes and I still enjoy them (i.e., The one where Spongebob tries to get into the Salty Spitoon).
Nickelodeon hasn't been good in about 10 years.
New cartoons are like Brain Washing
Probably 'cause they ran out of all the good ideas.

the voice of sponge bob came to mall of america for new years, thats like half an hour away from me, and my friend was talking to him after the show, and he was just starring at her tits, I mean they are massive, but she's 15 and he's like 50 for Christ's sake

Spongebob is still silly.
It may not be AS good, doesn't mean it isn't.
You're watching from a new perspective now.

Dude, you seriously need to pay more attention. Spongebob: He is fucking annoying. His laugh makes me want to drown puppies. His smile makes me think High School Musical is more entertaining than it. Oh, and his attitude is freaking stupid. Watch episodes from Seasons 4-7 to see what I mean. Squidward: Squidward always has to put up with Spongebob. That Yellow Fuck always gets away with things even though it's his fault. I feel terribly sorry for Squid having to put up with Spongebob. If I were Squid, I would have commited suicide by Season 4. :argh: Patrick: Spongebob's best friend. What can I say? He's pretty much a clone of Spongebob, only Spongebob actually has a brain (See the episode "Plankton"), Patrick on the other hand, dosen't. Also, he always does stuff with Spongebob, and it happens ALOT! He giggles and hugs with Spongebob so much, that you would think that they were GAY with eachother. Mr. Krabs: I used to really like Mr. Krabs. I thought he was funny, but now he's just a money whore who wants nothing more than to make a lot of cash. The only episodes where he's a main character is if it involves money, or his arch rival, Plankton (We'll get to him in a bit.) Sandy: She's a really interesting character in my opinion. She's a Rocket Scientist, She knows Karate, and she really enjoys extreme sports. What baffles me about her is that they barely put her in newer episodes, making her a very un-interesting character nowadays. Sadly, she and Squidward are the only characters I like on this show. :smith: Plankton: It's the same damn thing with this character. He plots a way to steal the Krabby Patty Formula, and ends up failing at the end. It happens over and over in almost every episode he's in, and it makes him a REALLY un-interesting character. Next time, please try to make sense of what you're trying to say, otherwise, you're gonna make yourself look like an idiot on the internet. I hope this list helped you understand. :v:
The original creator of the series left quite a few years ago along with his bag of creativity. End of story.
Yeah I've heard about this. The Movie was supposed to be the end of the show, but Nickelodeon insisted on keeping it running. A good chunk of the original staff, including the creator, was ready to move on and Nickelodeon's determination to keep the show alive wasn't going to stop them. So Nickelodeon hired a bunch of mediocre writers and the rest is history. Also Spongebob's laugh wasn't annoying when he was actually more than just a yellow block of pure innocence. I'm not sure what to call it, but it wasn't annoying. I didn't mention plankton in my post did I? I find it odd how hard they're trying to push the idea that he's dangerous and evil when he seems like an even bigger failure than he was before. He used to not appear very often, so when he did, it felt like he was actually threatening. Now he just shows up every other episode, often not even intending to steal the recipe until somebody waves it in front of him.
It's different for us because if you had a childhood you definitely watched Spongebob Squarepants and everyone loved it. Now the kids are changing and majority are liking the random shit, the show changes too. Now we think it's shit because it's not the same Spongebob we all know and love but to the kids its fuckin' amazing. They are out there to please the younger audience not teens in highschool.

Derek Drymon put all of his awesomeness into Adventure Time
Because most of the kids these days watch total shit. So then spongebob has to change to the watchers likings. I love the older episodes but I can't stand the new ones.
