Broun, who, again, is a top ranking member of the United States House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, tells the crowd the bible has done much more than teach him how live a good Christian life — its opened his eyes to the reality obscured by such things as empirical data and scientific consensus. He once "believed" in things like evolution, the Big Bang theory, and embryology, but no more: Now he knows those things are "lies straight from the pit of Hell." He continues: And it's lies to try to keep me and all the folks who are taught that from understanding that they need a savior. You see, there are a lot of scientific data that I found out as a scientist that actually show that this is really a young Earth. I don't believe that the Earth is but about 9,000 years old. I believe it was created in six days as we know them. That's what the bible says! That the House Committee on Science seats a hardcore biblical literalist should come as no surprise, considering another prominent member of the committee is Rep. Todd "Magical Vagina" Akin, but that hardly makes it right.
he's in the fucking House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology the fucking house committee on fucking science, space, and technology
Nice opinion you have there, congressman Paul Broun.
Hell is where all the cool people hang out anyway so I don't care

I forgot, is it still 2012?
Science is Satanic, this I know For the Bible tells me so! v:v:v
I hold the holy bible as the major directions to me of how I vote in Washington DC.
I feel so much fucking sorrow and pity for any American on facepunch who has to suffer through such a knuckle dragging political institution.
yet when i say i use "50 Shades of Grey" as a guideline for all of my decisions in life everyone looks at me like i'm crazy
yet when i say i use "50 Shades of Grey" as a guideline for all of my decisions in life everyone looks at me like i'm crazy
Give it 2000 years, an archaeologist will mistake it for a holy book of the ideal sexual relationship. And then we will have Greyism, which will be confused with the other group called the Greys who think that Communion is a holy book. [sub]I'm obviously not being serious in this post before anyone thinks I'm suggesting the Bible was forgotten for 2000 years and was then dug up by an archaeologist.[/sub]
This man is a CONGRESSMAN??? You have got to be fucking kidding me.
See I'm convinced that there's an elaborate conspiracy-esque organisations who get their kicks from going to mental institutions, finding a patient with absolutely no connection to reality whatsoever, put them in a suit and implant the idea in their head that they're actually a congressman or member of the government and then watch them say this hilariously fucking obscene and dumb bullshit. All the while they're chilling at home pissing themselves laughing at this side splittingly funny shit.
So the nutjobs have infiltrated the Committee on Science, Space and Technology? No wonder the Government is so useless at that shit. It's like cancer, they're destroying it from the inside out.
How does one get on this committee? Do they just pick names out of a hat? I'm appalled that this man has any influence on science, space, and technology.

but but but but a priest came up with the big bang theory...
Urgh. Pope John Paul said that evolution and the big bang theory are perfectly acceptable. Face it. The Bible isn't scientifically accurate by a long shot.
Why is it allways american politicians that say stuff like that? Are they this retarded?
I forgot, is it still 1012?
I fixed your calender.
I'm more concerned about how he's apparently a licensed medical doctor, let alone a congressman with influence over science funding.
This guy shouldn't be a congressman, not going to even begin on how someone like him managed to become a licensed medical doctor.
Reminds me of this classic:
Why is it allways american politicians that say stuff like that? Are they this retarded?
yes.
Reminds me of this classic:
I thought IQ tests were nothing but meaningless numbers?
I thought IQ tests were nothing but meaningless numbers?
They're not "meaningless" but they don't measure full intelligence, mostly just one's speed at performing logical thinking/ability to think clearly under stress/ability to guess really well like most standardized tests do.
Back in time! Dun dun dun dadadada dadadada dadadada gotta get back in time
I thought he was talking about the shows, which still wouldn't of surprised me.
Fixing the government would be pretty simple I think. Make it a requirement to pass a one-question quiz to get elected to senate, house or POTUS. That question: Do you believe evolution, big bang theory, embryology or anything similar to that is lies concocted from the pit of hell? If they answer yes they're ineligible to hold public office. Simple as that. They're welcome to hold those beliefs if they want, but those beliefs have no business on Capitol Hill.
