Oh Finland, you're so awesome [editline]16th April 2011[/editline] We need a finnish translator over here, please!
Just sent a text message to a service allows you to check up info about a car, its owner etc. by the registration plate. It's a Chevrolet El Camino Pickup CW80H/297. 56kW (pretty sure that's with the old standard engine), it was last inspected on 21.6.2010, the owner's name is Juha Petri Sipilä and he lives in Kempele. [editline]16th April 2011[/editline] I like how I checked the info without watching the video and it's all there at the end of the video.
At least i can understand this. And you cant.
is that a fucking nuclear reactor?!
Nice engineering.
is that a fucking nuclear reactor?!
Yes. Nuclear reactors work with wood nowadays.
Wood gas combustion engines were already used decades ago, but this is pretty cool, nonetheless.
Okay, I'm from Finland, but I'm too tired to translate the whole shabang, so I'll just write down the stuff that is written on 2:35. Model: Chevrolet El Camino Manufacturing year 1987 Engine: 350 Cid (5,7l) Fuel: wood or gasoline Fuel consumption: Wood aprox 40kg/100km Fuel cost: around 2€/100km Range: Aprox 200km per tank (counting the wood you can carry with you 600km) Top speed: 140km/h horsepower on wood gas: 80Hv Carburetor apparatus: (Don't know if translated right) Katera Steel Oy 2007 (Adapted from Vesa Mikko's manual www.ekomobiili.fi) Emissions: CO 0,176% HC 48ppm Electrical controls of the engine: Motec M800 (blaablaablaa too technical, don't know how to translate :(. ) Project team: Ville säynäjäkangas Esa Kuitula Juha Sipilä Thanks to: Vesa Mikkonen Staff of A1 Autoväri Mike Anttila Arto Lehtonen Jani Piippo Katera Steel Oy CCM-Power Oy Kimmo Takarautio Presentation video by: Timo Sipilä Petteri Stavén Music by: Petteri Meskus ------- Okay that's it, alot of the text was reaaaallly technical stuff about cars which I have very very little experience and knowledge, but I did the best I could and if there's someone else who can translate better than me, then do it.
Ah yes, woodgas generators coupled up to a almost ordinary engine. Was commonly used in WW2 by farmers, emergency services and rich people in Europe. Poor people had to walk or ride a woodgas powered bus.
At least i can understand this. And you cant.
Mm, mä ymmärrän.
That wood chamber on the flatbed looks really heavy and anti-aerodynamic... I wonder how much does that car weigh when carrying a full load of wood
That wood chamber on the flatbed looks really heavy and anti-aerodynamic... I wonder how much does that car weigh when carrying a full load of wood
According to the stats Fuel consumption: Wood approx 40kg/100km Range: Approx 200km per tank That means that one fill of wood weights 80kg. And as it's a cylinder, it doesn't have much air resistance.
Someone should start up a company that makes and sells these. They would become rich as fuck, especially since everyone hates buying gas at these prices.
