not really blow the island up, just stop it from being used like he said at the end.
AMERIC- wait, England? How out of character.
I came in thinking someone made a lego video.
Why didn't the British just use the island instead of blowing it up?
Why didn't the British just use the island instead of blowing it up?
Because explosions are awesome.
is it me, or does that pilot with his thumb up look like Jimmy Carr?
Didn't the British also do something where they dug a mine under the German frontlines in World War I, filled them full of explosives, then set them off?
Didn't the British also do something where they dug a mine under the German frontlines in World War I, filled them full of explosives, then set them off?
Yeah, I visited one of the sites a few years ago with school when we went to Belgium. They'd dig under their trench and fill a cavern with amanol, and blow it up. Apparently the explosions rattled the windows in Downing Street when they blew. One of the places we visited had the crater still there, and you could easily fit a house with 2 floors inside it.
Why didn't the British just use the island instead of blowing it up?
Last sentence in the video: "It is improbable, that the island can ever again be used as a warbase."
Last sentence in the video: "It is improbable, that the island can ever again be used as a warbase."
yeah because they blew it up omitting that one small variable, why didn't they use it? also, so much history wasted
7 kilotonnes of explosives. Literally.
Why do americans call it heligoland? Its called Helgoland
7 kilotonnes of explosives. Literally.
3.2 kilotons actually.
It was the largest non-nuclear man-made explosion in 1947, not many more.
Why do americans call it heligoland? Its called Helgoland
They were british. And I suppose its the same reason that the british pronounce Lieutenant as "Leftenant"
They were british. And I suppose its the same reason that the british pronounce Lieutenant as "Leftenant"
What? They don't do that.
yeah because they blew it up omitting that one small variable, why didn't they use it? also, so much history wasted
Propaganda.
What? They don't do that.
Yea they do. Even in the video at :27 "...Leftenant Commander Frank Graves of London..."
Propaganda.
..what? i'm talking about the installations that were on the island, there aren't many things like that anymore
"Improbable that it will ever again be used as a war base"
..what? i'm talking about the installations that were on the island, there aren't many things like that anymore
They destroyed it to show their goodwill to the people that are fed up with the war. They probably had all those explosives left over and had to get rid of it anyway.
Wait, did I see a middle finger in the smoke? [editline]18th February 2012[/editline] No really take a close look at the smoke after the explosion
Timesplitters future perfect much?
