There's a new part, might as well post the whole thing. If you've seen the previous ones already skip ahead. Or just watch all of them again. :v:

FEAR was so good and then they fucked it up with FEAR 2 and then completely butchered it with FEAR 3.
I find it hilarious how the end of FEAR 2 was [sp]The ghost bitch raping you and you impregnate her, what the actual fuck?[/sp]

Well she did want your dick the ENTIRE game, so yeah.

They didn't fuck up.
Well, not until the end. It was just a much more dull ride in comparison to the first.
I especially like the graphic direction they took with the film grain and just the overall feel of the game looking like a movie, and the gameplay is almost as good. Multiplayer was entertaining. Sad that it was such an afterthought.
The third however... Pure garbage.
That intro to part 3.
Also has it really been 10 months since the last part? Wow.
I think the FEAR sequels were messed up by being about Alma.
If FEAR(the organization) was made in 2002 and the first game takes place in 2025, what happened in all those years between? What happened in 2002 or earlier that convinced the government they needed to make a special unit devoted to fighting paranormal stuff. There's so much room for more stories, different paranormal stuff and locations but they blew it on a a girl who's story should have ended when the first game did.

Not only that, it feels like they are literaly just Ghostbuster comic levels of performance aswell.
Jankowski comments on how its ludicrous to go against a batallion. Sure you probably wouldn't go against a batallion in a paranormal mission, but you'd probably go against some weird ass shit that would make going against a batallion something a bit more normal right?
Plus, did a psychopath psyquic commander need a "counter paranormal phenomena unit"? Is that what they mean with paranormal, instead of spooky ass poltergheist shit? Maybe the unit is more about odd killings (the kind that are almost like the liquefied kills Alma did) and not literaly ghosts?
Anyway... She didn't ruin the game. Not the first one at least. They shouldn't had made FEAR 2 about her, and certainly not the third either. FEAR 2 I at least pass it off because I really enjoyed almost everything about the game, even though the story in itself was a bit too bonkers and farfetched. The third just made that even worse. The same as pouring more gas onto a fire.
The only good thing that Fear 3 offered was that online mode where you had to run away from a fog of death, but even that became boring after you tried it once

I mistyped and meant the sequels needed to change, not the first game.
The issue with the sequels is exactly the same as what went wrong with Condemned 2. Initially, you have a generally realistic setting with slight paranormal elements that allow for believable storytelling and solid atmospheric horror and then Monolith fuck it up by making it into a grindhouse schlock-fest with 0 atmosphere.
Don't get me wrong the sequels to FEAR and Condemned both have their own unique charms but they weren't logical progressions of their predecessors.
Jump scares, excessive gore and outlandish story elements are trademarks of bad horror. Granted, when you have someone who knows that stuff inside out and yearns to make something better you end up with the likes of Evil Dead and Dead Alive. Evidently Monolith didn't have that person in charge.

Speaking of jump scares, the one that got me good was in the office where Alma just fucking crawls out of the dark. I wasn't expecting it at all, turned to my left and she's like 2 feet away from my shins.

about 5 minutes in.
FEAR 2 gets its fair share of hate. I really enjoyed its gameplay, it's just the AI aren't anywhere near as aggressive as in the first, probably due to the combat areas being generally more open. FEAR 1 would have you enter a large room with obstacles everywhere, replicants would bust in the other side and flood the area.
If anyone's looking for a challenge just go play F1 on the hardest difficulty without using slomo whatsoever
Oh yeah, F2's multiplayer was great imo, just for the fact that when someone got hit, they got fucking hit. Don't know what it is, but the weapons always felt like they had so much impact, and no other MP game has come close to replicating that.

The worst one for me was when you went down a ladder and when you turn around to go down she's right behind you.

That moment's in the review too

I never got to play that. Want to know why?
I rented FEAR 3 from our local game store so my cousin and I could play it together. One of the things I wanted to do was check out the multiplayer.
Of course they had like team death match and what not, but then I noticed the one where you had to run away from the wall of death. That sounded so cool. But then I read on the back of the manual that the game mode was LOCKED until you purchased the game and received a special key for it.
It was fucked up.
