Poll: How often do you have illegal drugs in your car - General

The intention of this poll is to give some indication of the likelihood of somebody having illegal drugs on them when in a car. It doesn't matter where the drugs are, just that they are in the car and that they are illegal. Please give the closest estimation you can. If you are having a hard time coming up with an answer, think of it instead as "if I was to get pulled over at any random time, how likely would it be for there to be an illegal drug in the car". If you do not have a car or do not do drugs please refrain from voting. Feel free to read the below after voting. [sp]The poll is primarily intended to give some idea as to the effectiveness of searches based on probable cause or reasonable suspicion. 90% of car searches turn up with nothing. The majority of searches that find something find illegal drugs. Ten or more percent of people in the US use marijuana illegally. What that implies is that some percentage of the time, probable cause and reasonable suspicion have nothing to do with the fact the search found something. That instead it was just statistically likely to find somebody carrying something illegal. What this poll will do is give a better indication of how effective reasonable suspicion and probable cause is. I did some searching for statistics about this and couldn't find any, and it is likely that they are out there and I'm just using the wrong search terms. If you have a link to a study feel free to post it, and then results can be compared.[/sp]

I don't own a car, but if I did I would only carry them if necessary.

I only have it when smoking it, but I don't think of it as percentages. I'd say I'll have illegal drugs on me for about 20-40 minutes a day at any given time, at the most.

Pretty much only if absolutely necessary, and when it is it's either locked in the trunk or locked in the glove compartment.

Fairly often, I've never been pulled over. I never have enough to be damaging to me if I were caught.

I do occasionally, and when I do, there's always bongs and shit in there with it. but I've never been pulled in the years I've been driving.

So I'll be taking the percentage in the middle, so for the first choice that would be 87.5, multiplying it by the people who voted for it, and then added the rest in the same way. The very bottom choice will be worth 5 for half of them, and 0 for the other half. This is just to get the extreme of somebody never having drugs in their car, I should have made a poll result that was just never. Then of course divide by the total. With the first calculation I get 25%, meaning that there is a 25% chance that someone would have drugs on them if they did drugs. If you think my method of calculating the percentage is inaccurate, give me a better way.

Only if I've taken my car to pick up or I'm on my way to somewhere I'd be consuming drugs so I'd have them on me anyway

The new number would be about 28.5% with a 12.5% margin of error, so at the minimum 16% and at a maximum of 41%. The large margin of error is caused by the using a relatively big unit and could have been lowered by using smaller percentage coverage, but I'm not really sure if that would help out because it's hard to put the answer to this in a percentage. I hope I'm using the right terminology and method, but this is just to get a rough estimate and isn't anything serious. A better test for this would be to interview people on the street asking if they used drugs, and if they did asking them if they had drugs in their car at the moment, but I'm not sure how well that would work out.

I have weed in my car about 50% of the time maybe. Never got caught with it, but it was close one time. I was driving with some mates and i had a joint in my car when i noticed a police car following me. I just kept making turns, hoping they would stop following me. They didn't so i took the chance at a corner where they couldn't see me for some seconds and threw out the joint. They stopped me after that and i thought they saw it. They didnt and just asked me for my license and why i kept turning. I said we was just driving around cause we was bored and they let us go. After that we picked up the joint from the road and smoked it :D It isn't really a big deal if i get caught since the fine here is about 200 dollars.

I tend to carry a small pipe & <1g wherever I go, but I keep it hidden in the trunk. I leave it behind if it's unsafe though.

I buy a lot of pot and sell a good amount too, but this neighborhood I live in now has a checkpoint right at the entrance to it almost once every other week. I don't bring it in my car as much as i used to.

Anyone else have more than one secret hiding spot in their car? I've got like 5. My car was made for a drug user man.

I now have the center console on velcro and can take it off when I need.

I never bother hiding it in my car, it's normally in a bag that happens to be in the car.

Maybe once every 2 weeks when I pickup.

Pretty much never. The majority of the time, the person we're buying from drives to us 'cause we're good friends with all of them; they'll just stay and chill awhile usually.
