Quantic Gaming disbands (Not game developer Quantic Dream)
Following a tweet earlier in the day from Complexity’s Jason Lake about a big news event later in the day, multiple sources point to Quantic Gaming folding. Starcraft 2 players, including Theognis, Flo, and Illusion all tweeted that they were teamless and that the disbanding had come as a shock. All of Quantic Gaming is reported to be shutting down, not just the Starcraft 2 division.
Slasher independently confirmed Quantic folding but did not cite specific sources. In a followup tweet, Slasher revealed that Quantic ended abruptly because invesetors pulled out but no sources were given. No reasons were listed for why investors stopped funding the team and no official statement has been made from Quantic. None of the former-Quantic players have been signed with another team yet though Slasher has reported that talks are currently taking place.

Quantic Gaming, one of North America's premier e-sports and media production teams, has disbanded and will be closing all of its divisions.
The closure comes on the heels of Quantic Gaming's acquiring Orbit Gaming's League of Legends team on November 11, 2012.
The word spread this morning when Jason Lake, the founder and GM of CompLexity warned his followers that there was some "big NA team news coming today. Not good news either."
Only a few hours later did a tweet from former Quantic Terran player, Chris 'Illusion' Lee surface saying:
goodbye @QuanticGaming
This would lead to what we all know now as Quantic Gaming closing it's doors.
ESFI is gathering more news on this story as it develops.

Other sources include MaximusBlack who is a player/media organizer for them and Slasher's twitter.

Even if or if you don't follow the ESports scene or not, it's never good to have people laid off because investors pull back with no warning. No official statement from Quantic themselves but I hope all their players luck.
Buy a team, shut down 2 weeks later.
Also, this smells very suspicious, I wouldn't be surprised if there is some criminal activity going on here.

They actually posted that, then re-tweeted a post from someone else saying RIP. It's true folks.

It's kinda possible. I've heard of sponsor's paying cs 1.6 player's membership costs and other things with stolen credit cards in russia.

I've never understood The E-sports scene, but I also think most ordinary ports are borderline pointless.
But I'm the type of person who'd keep such things on a casual and fun level, instead of making it my (part time) job
always said to see a team go especially one that seemed to be as rich as EG and could send up&comers to korea and all around the world

I feel bad for Illusion alot I mean
He's like 16 and he got to do what he loved and that was playing Starcraft 2 and now well I believe he was the youngest on quantic so i have no idea what will he do now :(

You can easily have a bad period with shitty assignments even with the best job in the world.
Yeah, heard about this from LAGTV. Damn shame.

Honestly I can only understand it with really specific games that are designed around a very high skill ceiling and are made to be played by top players. Street Fighter, Quake 3, Starcraft, shit like that. But Halo, Call of Duty, and co.? Just no please.
the owner of quantic gaming was an idiot anyways. instead of supporting their teams and promoting them, he conducted meaningless interviews nobody watched and spent all of the organizations money on trying to look as professional as possible.

I dunno, with how technical they get some on some of those games, doesn't seem like it be fun

Sorta how Ben said above, complex games with a huge learning curve offer more of a challenge, sorta why I like Dota so much. It sucks when you get outplayed because one other person exploited a mechanic you never knew about, but that allows you to learn from one game to the next and try it yourself. I don't understand how you can do professional "Call of Duty" when Solitaire takes more thought, and not be bored with your life. Again mentioning Dota, something new is always waiting to be tried, and it will be exploited until everyone knows about it and it becomes the norm until something new pops up. It keeps the game fresh and exciting.
