• I would like to know what items I would need to make a "Spy Camera"

This is basically what I want it to do: 1) Camera begins recording for a set time after it detects motion 2) Camera auto-focuses on the moving object from what it can see in the scene(the camera itself won't be moving, but it needs to be able re-focus itself) 2a) Or the camera should be high quality enough so that the whole scene it's in isn't blurry (like a cheap webcam) 3) Video is automatically recorded to a built-in storage device (like a flash drive or SD card that can be put together with the camera) 4) Does not need to rely on a computer to be plugged in to record video/audio So what kind of tools might I need for something like this? What kind of costs am I looking at here? I would like it to be made using a web camera, since those can be found pretty cheap, and I already own a couple.

IP camera with a motion sensor [editline]23rd August 2011[/editline] or just get a webcam and try to figure out a way to conceal it and use vitamin d on the video, but an IP camera with a motion sensor would probably be easiest
The hardest part is concealing it in your sister's bedroom.
I'm no embedded electronics buff but here's what I think would work: * 1 cheap usb webcam * 1 RN-XV WiFly Module (or some other wireless system): http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10822 * 1 proto board to put it all together * 1-∞ (a couple at most) PIC or AVR that operated at 5 volts to connect it all, decoding, encoding, etc. * 1 voltage regulator IC: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=MC78L05ACHXCT-ND * 1 9 volt battery holder * 1 9 volt battery What I don't know now is the C programming or network protocols to get it running, but with the right program this'll let you interact with the camera over your wireless network and I think you could even view it over the net (again not a programming guy). Either way this is a start, if you take this list to the programming section and the embedded programming thread they will be able to help you out more and fix any errors that I have made. [editline]24th August 2011[/editline] Or if you want to spend less than 12 dollars and are willing to pick the camera up to get the feed then here ya go, this thing is absolutely tiny: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-DV-Hidden-Video-Camera-Spy-Cam-Camcorder-MD80-DC-/200477657217?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ead664881
