Obviously this decade has nothing new to the table, it's all shitty pop, it's all shitty punk, there's nothing genre-breaking about this decade. So, what would the 10s be known for?
the return of synth pop hohoho
I hope Trip-hop and cool types of music make a return. 10 shitty years of god awful pop, cheap R'n'B acts and horrible fusions of grime/hip-hop/pop/R'n'B is too much for one decade to bare.
That or progressive rock.
What do you mean this decade offers nothing?
The 10's will be known for it's myriad of avant-garde sound collages.
Thousands of bands in each genre have formed in the 10's. There are more subgenres than ever. There is something for everybody! The 10's has been the best music decade yet. By far.
A bunch of high school bands that think they're the best god damned thing ever.

What has this decade offered that isn't mediocre?

it's all opinion

Slipknot and Owl City! :neckbeard:

Obviously.

This decade is known for Miley Cyrus.

Perhaps in your head. I have only heard about her from various websites. I've never heard a single song by her. And I doubt many of my friends even know who she is at all. Do you seriously think the 80's is known for Metallica and Thrash Metal to the general crowds? No, it's 80's pop music that come in mind. And it's exactly the same situation now.
Well, every kid wants to be a Dj nowadays.

You and your friends must live in deep Oklahoma if you don't know who Miley Cyrus is. I guess this is biased though, since I'm living in the center of California. States vary.
This was the decade of Post-Rock and Death Metal coming to the mainstream, plus the emergence of the "indie rock" sound imo

So your 10 year old?
Because only that would make sense too how dumb that is.

I believe he was talking about the non-mainstream music.
The 10s shall be known as the mainstreamization of extreme metal.
By 2019 high schools will be playing Deicide at basketball games, Behemoth will become traditional wedding music (Draconian for funerals), and dances shall become moshpits for Bloodbath.
Every person and their dog will have at least twelve extreme metal CDs.
The amount of shitty deathcore, crappy death metal, and atrocious grindcore bands being produced will be phenomenal, for every high school band to ever form will wish to play. All good music as we know it will die; the extreme metal bands of the 80s, 90s, and whatever has been made in the new millennium that doesn't suck total cock shall become their own distinct genre: classic death.
Extreme metal as we know it will die, and from the ashes of its smoldering corpse shall arise core. An unmeasurable amount of core: grindcore, metalcore, deathcore. Nothing but core.

We all live in Sweden, thank you very much. There are Miley Cyrus fans here too. But they're all preteen girls. Because that's what it is, ain't it? Kids' music?

Please evaluate.
Michael Jackson's resurrection.

If you consider pole dancing to be a attribute to kids' music, than by all means it is.

What kind of rock have you been living under?

Miley Cyrus is kids' music.
The fact she's a pole-dancing whore only shows you how much innocence our children have lost.
Take a walk down town and count up how many middle-school girls you see dressed up as whores.
Ask your parents how many middle-school girls were dressed as whores when they were in school, or in your case (I believe from the way you post you're not a kid or a teen, so I'm going off that assumption) just look back ten or fifteen years and try and remember how many middle-school whores there were walking around.
Miley Cyrus suddenly makes sense.

Alright then, what was the 00's known for that wasn't mediocre?

True, I guess it is a sad reality that the 00's were known for just purely mediocre music.
Lame white people rap and techno. Oh, and Miley Cyrus and The JoBros. Pretty much everything I hate will blossom.
Alright then, what was the 00's known for that wasn't mediocre?
I can name you lots of bands. But you will probably not have heard of any of them. Because that's what today's music is all about. The subgenre-branches have split many many times. I do not know what kind of music you're into, but I know that if you would have dug some you would have found many outstanding acts from this decade.

Music wise.
Return of mainstream Grunge.
Mostly rebirths of bands that have hit rocky bumps in the 00's. I'd like to see what Job for a Cowboy will do. System of a Down reunites? :3: No telling what Slipknot's next gig will be. Moar technical Cannibal Corpse! The Faceless, Cryptopsy, other Tech Death bands.
