To be fair, this is information I wanted to know. People are taking it as a threat against Donald Trump, but designated survivors are a thing. It's pretty tastelessly presented, but it's interesting nonetheless.

The Netflix TV show is based around the real concept of the designated presidential successor: There's a Presidential line of succession that goes down the list of Cabinet secretaries and leaders in Congress, but at the inauguration (where all of those people are present), one of the Cabinet secretaries is somewhere very far away so that government can continue on, in case of an attack that kills everyone at the inauguration.
The show Designated Survivor is an imagining of what would happen if a terrorist attack wiped out everyone at the inauguration, leaving the designated survivor to become President.

I am honestly surprised that I, as an Australian, know about the designated presidential successor, but many Americans do not know about them.
I don't get the dislikes, I thought it was about something actually tasteless like a huge VFX explosion for demonstration purposes

I know about the line of succession but I didn't know "designated survivor" was an actual term.
The way they worded it makes it seem like a disaster happened but it's actually pretty interesting to know who the designated survivor would be. They do the same thing during the State of the Union Address every year.
When I first started watching the video all I could think about was if they ever talked about this before the TV show aired. Guess they didn't really think about it until the show came out and then looked to see if it was a real thing?
20/20 did a designated survivor thing, probably more in depth too.
TV show is pretty good though. Get's better as it goes on.
To be honest, this would be good to know for any american. Trump being as divisive as he is means he has a target on his back for some crazy lone wolves or a group. [Note: This does not mean I condone assassination.]
I still don't understand why people are so riled up about this video.
