Doctors have been asked by a devastated mother to help her young child who has a three-inch “tail” that is still growing.
The growth protruding from seven-month-old Xiao Wei’s spine is the result of him being born with spina bifida, which means his vertebrae did not form properly, reports The Sun.
His mother Chen, from Guangdong province in China, said: "We have asked the surgeons to remove the tail but they tell us it is not that simple."
Surgeon Huang Chuanping said the “well developed” growth now measured some 10 centimetres.
“If we cut it off it will simply grow again. We need to repair the spinal canal first to stop it reoccurring,” he added.
The most common type of spina bifida is myelomeningocele, which affects 1 in 800 babies born.
It looks like a beaver's tail. And it grows back every time you cut it off? This kid is like a human-gecko-beaver hybrid. Yeesh, hope this doesn't have any long term negative consequences for him.

The fact she cut it off the first time is why it is growing. His spinal fluid is leaking because of the severing of the end of the spine. This kid is going to have serious medical problems, and even possibly die.
Poor kid :c
Jesus fuck I thought it was going to be about those furry fake tails fad at first.
is the mutation because of the pollution in China? Wouldn't be surprised

Here is some reading on Spina Bifida
It's a pretty awful defect.
I seriously thought this would be about a furry.
Spina bifida is one horrendous thing to be born with. I'm sorry for the family and the kid.

He should build a dam.
I feel sorry for the parents, but this child is most likely to die.
Oh god, I can't look at it without thinking of Squidward.
How does he sit down?
Man, that shit must suck, this is the first time I heard about something like this, but I do recall reading about something that involves Tails in humans, nothing relating to this, evolution mainly.

With his butt
My friend has spina bifida. She just graduated high school, but she had to miss a great deal of classes due to operations and stuff... It's an awful condition. Hope things work out for the kid in the story.

I'd be more concerned about the fact that you think he'll be competing at 3 years and 7 months old.

It's china right
those cocksuckers have genetic engineering programs and everything
little do u know that yao ming is actually only 6 years old.
Remove the tail? But think about the possibilities! He could work in a Las Vegas strip bar where he gets paid for slapping those drunk bitches around like two-bit whores with his ass-tail.
All I'm saying is that he could probably live off his genetic defect.

he could probably die from his genetic defect

Not to mention that the tail was removed improperly the first time, damaging the spinal canal.

Darn medical school dropouts. Either that, or there was a chance of fail in the first place anyway.
I heard a thing about human tails that we all had one at one point but thanks to our growth, our tail deteriorated or something like that, I will always wonder what our tails will look like if it was fully grown, and can we even move it at all?
