It looks like Disney's Hollywood Studios will get a new name. A 6-year-old child at the Walt Disney Co.'s annual shareholder meeting asked a question about whether the studios might change its name. "It's not announced. We used to be MGM Studios, we changed to Hollywood Studios and we're doing some significant work there right now that I guess will result in a name change," Disney CEO Bob Iger answered. "Now we can announce that. It's not been announced, right? No. "We'll announce that we're changing the name but we won't announce what we're changing it to. How's that?" The park is undergoing a lot of changes. The big sorcerer's hat was just taken down. The Great Movie Ride is undergoing tweaks. Toy Story Midway Mania is getting a third track. American Idol Experience and the Studio Backlot Tour closed recently. Disney has said it will build more Star Wars attractions at its parks, and Hollywood Studios is considered a natural choice because of its existing ties to the franchise. Attractions based on Pixar franchises such as Toy Story and Cars are also predicted by theme-park bloggers.
Source. Here is the audio from the shareholder meeting: I wonder if this means the park will be entirely rethemed, not just a new land then.
Considering I thought it was still MGM studios, I think it might just be a name.
hollywood studios is a great name for the park though?
What's a six-year-old child doing at a Disney shareholder meeting?
they have a senior board of shareholders and a junior board of a shareholders nobody tells the junior board that their shares are in monopoly money
What's a six-year-old child doing at a Disney shareholder meeting?
They always have allowed children to ask questions at these meetings.
As long as they don't name it after Frozen I'm fine with it, Hollywood Studios was always a transitional name.
It's not surprising, really. Hollywood Studios has lost the majority of the "studios" theme, and it seems as if they may remove even more of it depending on future plans (Lights, Motors, Action and Indiana Jones). The most popular attractions (Tower of Terror, Rock n' Roller Coaster, & Toy Story Mania) have little to nothing to do with movie production. Rumors are saying that they may go with "Hollywood Adventure" as it's a halfway point between the original theme and whatever the park is slowly moving towards with new Star Wars attractions. Removal of Backlot Tour was a really big step away from the whole "studios" theme.
What's a six-year-old child doing at a Disney shareholder meeting?
Isn't a 6 year old kid their main target anyways?
What's a six-year-old child doing at a Disney shareholder meeting?
Didn't you listen? He's a shareholder! Why wouldn't he be at a shareholder meeting?
that kid in all honesty probably an actor and probably a satanic sex slave, sucks to be honest to have to be abused by disney
Buy that disney stock.
Frozen Land? :v: As someone who will be working with the Disney corporation in about four month's time, I look forward to hearing what they have to say about this. The farther up the ladder you climb, the more stock options you have, so if this will positively affect things I'll be happy.
"A Galaxy Far, Far Away" imagine that.
still never got on board with calling it Hollywood Studios. it'll always be MGM to me just like Dinosaur will always be Countdown to Extinction.
