I don't know if this thread exists but I tried searching and it wouldn't let me. I want to know, Canon or Olympus? Personally, I prefer Olympus. I like Canons, but my first camera was an Olympus and I will forever be a fan. Which do you prefer? Why? What was your first camera? How much would you pay for one? Show us a picture? The subject never ends.
I prefer over
Canon. Most options in gear. Huge, high quality selection of lenses. Evident by the amount of 'pros' seen using them. My first serious camera was a Canon 500D. Had a Kodak point and shoot as a child. I'd (am going to) pay $2500 for a Canon, I'm getting a 5DmkII. Here's a mirror shot with the 500D and 28-105 f/3.5

CHDK is available for the PowerShot range, Magic Lantern for the higher-end DSLRs.
lol Olympus Canon ofcourse. Their range of lenses, bodies and other equipment is much, much better than Olumpus'
In the consumer level cameras its easy to get all muddled up in the competing brands with all their marketing, but the moment you go above anything higher than prosumer Canon really stands out. I know it sounds fanboyish, but Canon is the current industry standard. Nikon has a pretty good hold on it too, but they fade out of the picture when you get into the top class stuff. Pay attention when you watch TV, you'll usually see paparazzi, fashion photographers, press all using Canon. The big white lenses that are characteristic of 'pro'tographers is proprietary to Canon.
I got my first canon like I don't know 4 weeks ago. a EOS 500D took these with a 18-135mm lense [img_thumb]http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/215/2/a/water_1_by_krowten.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/213/c/6/Ducky_style_by_krowten.jpg[/img_thumb]
nikon
Canon has some of the best small format cameras. I believe nikon is the next best.
Sorry, I've been busy. My first camera ever was a Nikon. My first SLR was an Olympus. I don't like Canons. I used one today, actually. They have great quality images but they way they're made agitate me.

I'm a student at brooks school of photography, and I'm running a Canon 50D. I like the lack of bells and whistles (comparatively) on a canon camera, and I find the light sensors tend to record light better for the way I look at light. Olympus has nice glass, though :) Candid shot from a previous shoot
I'd understand Canon vs Nikon, but Canon vs Olympus? This is no proper way to start a holy war.
Nikon wins.
Nikon wins.
Nikon doesn't win. Olympus just loses
Nikon doesn't win. Olympus just loses
I'll give you the latter of that statement, but I'm a Nikon guy.
