In a surprise decision Tuesday, former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Penn.) will announce that he is suspending his presidential campaign, The Huffington Post's Jon Ward has learned and several other outlets have reported.
The Pennsylvania Republican had taken a break from the campaign trail for several days to tend to his ailing daughter, Bella. He had pledged to continue campaigning through the upcoming Pennsylvania primary. But the combination of his daughter's sickness and recent poll numbers showing him possibly losing his home state apparently prompted the early departure.
The announcement is expected to come during an address in Gettysburg, Penn.
Santorum's decision removes any lingering doubt that Mitt Romney will end up the Republican presidential nominee. The former Massachusetts Governor held a seemingly insurmountable delegate lead prior to Santorum's departure, though his campaign was planning on spending between one and two million dollars against Santorum in Pennsylvania.
GOOD.

But....easy votes for Obama!
FINALLY!
I actually haven't been paying much attention to this stuff, is Ron Paul still running? If so, then
Alternative thread title:
Rick Santorum stops making himself look stupid. Temporarily.
Thank god.
After the whole calling Obama in a racist slur incident, this was bound to happen.
Religion wasn't a good method, was it?
And the world rejoiced.
He's still continuing his campaign, read the OP.

He has not won a single state by delegates and only won one "state" by population
He and Gingrich does not have a chance
suspend doesnt equal ending

The fact that you have to ask if Ron Paul is still running should show you his chances.
The fact that you have to ask if Ron Paul is still running should be proof if his chances. All this does is make Romneys nomination come sooner.
It's not my fault the media deliberately avoids Ron Paul.

If you had only an hour per show, would you rather show the front runners or the crazy old man that has no chance

Ron Paul was coming in SECOND in most states and the media disregarded it. Either way, read this from The Washington Times:
"Rumors of Ron Paul campaign demise greatly exaggerated"

They are not covering him for the reason they are not covering Newt, he does not have a chance in hell. Besides anybody with a general knowledge of the race could tell you he is still running.
What a surprise
All part of the plan. He was just a confused puppet for Republicans letting him say the craziest shit so that Mitt Romney looks like a better choice.
The media doesn't like Ron probably because he's so anti-corporation.. I'm not surprised. Our country is so backwards...

They didn't cover him when the thing started, nevermind this past month. The media doesn't want Ron Paul. Why hasn't Fox News, CNN, MSNBC covered how he has been consistent? Why hasn't Fox News called him a "patriot" like they do to a criminal like Sarah Palin? He's not GOP enough for them, he's what republicans are supposed to be, not the bullshit conservative god-loving crap the "republican" media Fox News has been feeding its sheep.

Ron Paul didnt stand a chance when he started. He is too far right for most people, thats just how it is.

He got 2nd place in 26% off all the states that has received their results

I hate how the general population is too blind or doesn't even care about the government that's running them. And then the population complains about how fucked up the country is and blames the president.

Doesn't matter, this doesn't mean that he has ZERO chance at winning, the only reason that this might be a possibility is because the media makes you believe it, and you allow them to persuade you that he is just a crazy old man that won't win.

Im not sure if your implying I am like that, which Im not, or if people who see Ron Paul is too right are like that, which also would be a baseless claim.

You do know that Newt Gingrich was getting all the media attention when he had a strong campaign and when he started slowing down, the media attention cut down. A strong candidate shouldn't need the media to get ahead, speeches and events should work just the same.
If the media stopped broadcasting Obama in the major election, he would still get a great deal of the votes

Stop blaiming the media for the lack of interest in a canadate. Most people know what Ron Paul stands for, and those that support that messege are going to support it regardless of media coverage. Hell the media is saying Santorum has no chance, but a good amount of people still support him. Adding to that point, Santorum had less coverage than Ron Paul did at the begining, but his messege stuck with people and his campaign grew, along with media coverage. Ron Pauls support has not grew, and remains about the same as it did when this whole thing started.

I blame the people (sheep) that give the media its power.
