The Spanish health minister has confirmed that a nurse who treated a victim of Ebola in Madrid has tested positive for the disease.
The nurse is said to be the first person in the current outbreak known to have contracted Ebola outside Africa.
Health Minister Ana Mato said the woman was part of the team that treated Spanish priest Manuel Garcia Viejo, who died of the virus on 25 September.
Some 3,400 people have died in the outbreak - mostly in West Africa.
The Spanish nurse is in a stable condition, Reuters quoted health officials as saying. She started to feel ill last week when she was on holiday.
spare some ZMApp?
What came to me,now:

time to close the borders and incoherently panic
I'll swim all the way to the Azores if I have to
I hope the international health community finds a way to isolate and treat the virus soon, like what they did with Swine Flu epidemic four years ago.

We already have an experimental drug, ZMApp, that seems to have a high cure rate.
Everyone is fucked
The virus can spread through internet forums btw

Also is there no way to test for the Virus before the symptoms? With a blood test or something? You would think to test the nurses after treating someone with it.
Gentlemen, it has been a privilege posting with you tonight.
Please no

Okay. I'm sure Spain is a first world country with a decent healthcare system so whatever.

Indeed
Ebola actually does spread through the air. It's not as bad as the cold or flu, but a persons mucus is contagious and when you sneeze little bits go into the air.

That's not what airborne means.

While it has the possibility of spreading that way, it's much less likely than the other methods of transmission.

IIRC he was in Africa when he got it.
Worked for almost a week with Ebola - as a nurse.
Imagine going to that hospital in Spain for strep throat and getting Ebola.
She must have used crappy sanitation procedures. They train you from undergrad and then throughout your career on sanitation (I would know, I'm currently getting my BSN for nursing).
She's an idiot unless she got it by some freak accident. Sloshing around in infected piss and crap.
