Ukraine's Jamala is voted winner of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, held in Stockholm, Sweden
The collective anal clench of Moscow will be felt here.
Watch Russia boycott Eurovision 2017
That political voting holy shit
That political voting holy shit
I'd mind it in practically any other case, but it being used to have Ukraine beat Russia is fine in my books. Can't really say it wasn't unwarranted.
Australia did deserve to win though.
I thought the song sucked and then it wins, wow.
If I cared about Eurovision and wasn't Ukrainian myself, I would be pissed, but now I'm just very surprised
That political voting holy shit
Just like every other time. This contest is simply less about music and more about country relations.
Said it in the other thread, but it's going to be interesting having Eurovision be hosted in the burnt out husk of Kiev.
Did Eastern Europe not spam vote Russia this time?
What were you guys' personal favourites?
I liked Russia a lot myself, shame it didn't win.
UK was just mediocre, not bad, not great. No surprise it didn't do too well.

Russia got the most public votes, just not from the Juries.

Only just though, Russia nearly won it because all the eastern bloc vote for them. This new voting system seems to have really exasperated it.
I thought Russia's performance was pretty great, but hey Political voting.
UK comes almost stone dead last like usual, thank you for the 12 points Malta.
Watch Russia boycott Eurovision 2017
What? Why do you have to bring up Russia everywhere?
Oh a new voting system eh?

I didn't watch because I don't give a shit, but... when did Australia join Europe? The fuck?
What? Why do you have to bring up Russia everywhere?
Maybe because these results are very much related to Russia??? The winner was Ukraine with a song condemning the past actions of the USSR. Russia tried to get the song banned from the competition.
What? Why do you have to bring up Russia everywhere?
Uh, it is kind of warranted considering the Russians are already calling the voting biased.
I didn't watch because I don't give a shit, but... when did Australia join Europe? The fuck?
There were countries that aren't in Europe on Eurovision for ages. There's Turkey and Israel
Uh, it is kind of warranted considering the Russians are already calling the voting biased.
Which is funny because the voting in Eurovision has been biased towards Russia, hell they just barely lost this year.
Only reason this didn't happen sooner was because Ukraine didn't participate in 2015 I bet.

And rightly so, you're just being dishonest and biased because you're Russophobe:
The lyrics and/or performance of the songs shall not bring the Shows, the Eurovision Song Contest as such or the EBU into disrepute. No lyrics, speeches, gestures of a political or similar nature shall be permitted during the Eurovision Song Contest. No swearing or other unacceptable language shall be allowed in the lyrics or in the performances of the songs. No messages promoting any organisation, institution, political cause or other, company, brand, products or services shall be allowed in the Shows and within any official Eurovision Song Contest premises (i.e. at the venue, the Eurovision village, the Press Centre, etc.). A breach of this rule may result in disqualification.

So how does it feel knowing Serbia voted for Ukraine? :)
So how does it feel knowing Serbia voted for Ukraine? :)
?
What do I have to do with that?
That political voting holy shit
When Germany gave Israel 12 points I laughed harder than I think I ever have.
And rightly so, you're just being dishonest and biased because you're Russophobe:
How am I being dishonest? I didn't deny that the song was political. And Russophobe? hilarious

Dishonest by having double standards when it comes to Russia, I'd imagine you'd cry and complain if Russians had a song about shitting on Ukraine or something similar to that.
And yes, your dislike for Russia/ns is obviously showing.
And yes, your dislike for Russia/ns is obviously showing.
contrary to popular belief, dislike of the russian govt != dislike of the russian people
and condemning putin's illegal and unacknowledged invasion of ukraine has nothing to do with "russophobia"

I don't think you understand what the word 'dishonest' means. Biased in favor of Ukraine? Sure, I'm not trying to hide that, but I'm not lying about anything.
I'd hope that most people would have a problem with Russia having a song shitting on Ukraine considering it's never been a victim of any Ukrainian aggressions. The song was about a very much real event led by Joseph Stalin, who wasn't exactly known as being the nicest guy.
I have nothing against the Russian people (save for fucking idiots on Dota), but it's hard to not dislike the actions of its government unless your only news source is RT.
