Some of you may know that my dad is part of the Air Force. Now today I was out with my friend and looked at the game section in the Base Exchange, BX for short. which is basically a store...
so what we saw there was completely retarded.
"Due to the respect we have to those who serve our country, we will not be selling any Medal of Honor games at any Base Exchange"
First of all, this 'ban' they are trying to put on it for being offensive or whatever, will NOT work. I'm talking about the world wide protest thingy which isn't world wide, its just a bunch of whiny soccer moms who lost a husband in war (okay this is actually serious but listen...) But I would bet if I was that guy who died, and I was in heaven, I would want to play that game!
I was thinking, because the way the Base Exchange works is that we buy from it, and the extra money you used to buy the product goes to making the military base look cleaner, build new buildings, buy new products, ect...
so WHY would the Air Force ban this game! AND I KNOW FOR A FACT! that EVERY SINGLE AIRMAN on this base would want to play the game. They wouldn't find it offensive or rude or disrespectful. They probably want to act it out rather than sign up to go try it for real.
Since I live in England (The American base is in England) I don't know if the states have banned the game in some stores either. Have any of you came across something like the sign I saw?
Oh, I forgot to mention they took down all the old MoH games too as a result of being 'disgusted' with the company. Like the WWII ones for the Game Cube... yeah...
It's not a ban they're just choosing not to sell it.
For some reason, people think soldiers would be offended or something.
Go off base, buy it, go back.
Buy it from someone else then. :frog:
All base stores aren't selling it, read that in a newspaper
Oh, I forgot to mention they took down all the old MoH games too as a result of being 'disgusted' with the company. Like the WWII ones for the Game Cube... yeah...
For some reason, people think soldiers would be offended or something.
If I was a soldier currently fighting in the Iraq war, I'd even be offended.
But since I'm not it's just a video game.
If I was the guy that died and I was in heaven I wouldn't want to play the game since it looks like a carbon copy of Modern Warfare 2.

That's pretty horsehit.
The new one right? The multiplayer had a US Army versus Taliban or something like that I recall. I would suppose it would be weird to play as the Taliban when you are actually a soldier in real life. I don't know.
i dont get it cause in call of duty 4 you can kill american troops in multiplayer but nobody cared
Yeah it isn't being sold on any military bases, even the gamestops that are on military bases. It isn't banned though, you can buy it off base and still take it back on base.

I am friend with some of the young airmen. and they all act like basic teenagers. you know the type, the kids who plan to go straight from high school into the military? yeah those kids...
and those kids would play the damn game given the chance!
What did the Russians think when we released MW2?!
or did they actually ban that? that rings a bell if it did...
What did the Russians think when they released MW2?!

I think they actually did
well then that would be understandable since the theme they used is way worse than what MoH is doing.
Its just the American way... we whine and bitch about something if it slightly offends us but we will go exploit and abuse anybody else who isn't American just because we can...
I am glad I live in England, I plan to stay here.
Killing American soldiers is fun, what's the big deal?
OP is a fucking idiot. Stop complaining because you aren't changing jackshit.
Calm down, Skipper. I know complaining like this doesn't have a direct effect but if you read my question I asked, I wanted to know if other stores (non-military) have done it also since I DO NOT LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES AND I AM CURIOUS!
And who knows, maybe if I heard about it happening nationwide, that would spark something in me to change this stupid decision they are making to ultimately LOSE money that goes towards providing for the service members that they think they are trying to protect their feelings..

i cant ever understand these kinds of posts.
Stores on-base have to survive being conservative. Keep that in mind, even if no one on base opposes the games some politician is probably stupidly hawking over this issue.
Edit: Holy fucking shit here you all go, straight from the Air Force Times itself: "A video game that allows players to kill U.S. troops as Afghan militants has been banned from military post exchanges around the world. To "honor military families," Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) will not offer blahblahblah. Pre-orders through it's Gamestop will be transferred to the nearest Gamestop off base."
It's easy. People high up didn't want to offend anyone who may complain. There's no point in stirring that trouble up within a base. We will still get to play it. It's not that big of a deal. Most of you are civilians anyways and this doesn't even effect you.
Post before edit: It's AAFES that blocked it.. not bases. Are you the one from Lakenheath? I recognize your avatar from some months WAY back. I'm out at Seymour-Johnson AFB right now. He's right.. most if not all Airmen don't care. I know I don't. I find it slightly offensive but it's a game. I don't know how many people really care about the sides, whether it's red vs blue, blufor vs opfor, US vs Taliban. It's a bit to see it so soon I spose, but honestly I haven't heard ANY commotion from any airmen on this subject. It really is one of those "it's a game noone cares" sort of thing. Although, I know if a Chief or a Commander or something saw it they may be pretty old school and decide against it. That's most likely what happened. Either way, almost every base has a gamestop just off base. They'll just get the game there at the same price.
This really isn't a big deal it all. It's just a choice.. oh well.

Like I said, you offend a higher up and shit will hit the fan. It's probably best it was done this way because like I said, if anyone wants the game they'll get it at the nearest Gamestop/Walmart/Target. No harm no foul.
Also, responding to your original post, there may be airmen that could find it offensive. Also, the price of the game is the same on base as it is off. The profit doesn't go anywhere.. it's a normal stop. The BX is a ripoff half the time, the commissary is really where you save money. Also, no Airman want's to "practice" or "try" a deployment or being in the desert. You either do, or do not go for whatever reason you want. Do I want to go? Fuck no. I am trying to stay in the states as long as possible and get some life experience since I'm still quite young. Will I deploy? Fuck yes. (Ok maybe not, I'm Avionics troop for a squadron that is for training pilots.) But I can always be selected and volunteer, but this in no way, shape, or form wants me to practice killing endless amounts of Taliban. That's a real shitty way of looking at it. Really, really shitty.
If I was the guy that died and I was in heaven I wouldn't want to play the game since it looks like a carbon copy of Modern Warfare 2.
Looks a lot worse, it's like BC2 and MW2 combined, taking all the bad from BC2 and only adding...like...nothing really from MW2
Because it's a shit unrealistic copy of the older MoH games, remade for 12 year olds.
I think they actually did
They removed the "No Russian" scene and released it, so they seem to be fairly level headed about these things.
Because it's a shit unrealistic copy of the older MoH games, remade for 12 year olds.
Who cares about realism? You should only care about fun, but yeah, I doubt it'll be too good, it'll be just like Bc2
Of course they wont sell it, it allows you to kill American soldiers as a freedomhating commuterrorislamanazi.
Because it's a shit unrealistic copy of the older MoH games, remade for 12 year olds.
Unrealistic?
Have you played any MoH games? They're far from realistic.
I know at least 3 people who served and still want to play the game/ think the choosing not to sell it is stupid.
Of course they wont sell it, it allows you to kill American soldiers as a freedomhating commuterrorislamanazi.
Islamic terrorists pretty much do hate freedom...actually
They removed the "No Russian" scene and released it, so they seem to be fairly level headed about these things.
I think that's fair of them, considering it's a friggin "terrorism simulator" for that level. I couldn't imagine what shit would go down if they had a lvl in their next game where you reenact 9/11. There would be such a shitstorm, the dustbowl would turn up again in America again :D
