Every single person that joins this type of server is essentially the same so I don't blame him. He thought the streamer was just a generic troll that joins the server frequently but then he realized who it was.

I'd imagine it has the same appeal as going to popular freeform RPing sites and RP MUDs. It's for the sake of both an interest in seeing how [I]badly[/I] someone can screw up a unique or hilariously ill-advised concept, and an interest in seeing what good bits of interaction you can scrape together-- even if it doesn't actually have anything to do with the actual roleplay.
For me, I like to do this kind of stuff because it's fun to laugh at children pretending to be a knight or a highschooler wizard or their favorite anime/video game character and failing miserably at it. It makes me wish I kept this one screencap of a character who named their cool and edgy genetic experiment escapee "Tyrone KFC".
