thank god
So he really WAS being held hostage then? Good thing he got released. Especially now, when tensions are rising even higher.

Especially what happened to that politician...

That news story made me worry for a bit, because it said politician and someone else..
Anyway, I honestly hope he continues to report from Ukraine for VICE despite this. Its nice to have a different perspective on everything.
Well, at least they had the sense to not shoot him. That would have caused a shitstorm among the press elements, I would think.
VICE uploaded a video he recorded just before he got captured, he talks to the mayor who is apparently responsible for taking him hostage.

That's really good to hear he made it out safe, been following his dispatches since the beginning.
I'm a big fan of Ostrovsky's work. Would be horrible if something happened to him.
Glad to hear he's out, his dispatches really are one of the best sources of info, and truly a better look into whats going on over there.
Here's an article written by Ostrovsky explaining what happened:

Just how backwards can this 'Donetsk People's Republic' get? Attempting to prove your 'sovereignity' by abducting and beating up people, journalists nonetheless? Proving that they are common criminals instead.
I'm glad he was released, but he should have never been abducted in the first place.
hip hip hoorayh
the mighty chin is safe
Seriously glad that he's been released though

Probably because Putin denounced the Internet as a CIA tool. :v:

Fuck. Just imagine the other people that are still in that cellar.
I'm surprised he was able to get on a plane to go to Ukraine in the first place...
I mean, how can a plane stay airborne when it has to carry his giant steel balls around.
Honestly, this guys put himself in serious danger a lot of times. He's a serious journalist and has gone to some serious lengths to report what's been going on in Ukraine. At one point, when he tried to get into a Russian military checkpoint to check it out, they grabbed him, threatened to shoot him and, while the camera guy ran off, he was being carried inside for questioning and beating. They only released him when he said he was part of an American news company cuz they didn't want to start an international incident. There was another bit where some Russian soldiers went into a hotel a bunch of journalists including himself were staying at and took someone 's equipment so he decided to run around the hotel looking to see if any of them were left to try and talk to them.

they probably want to be just like daddy Russia :v:
Good to hear he's out. Now we just need to locate and remove the brain slug they put in.
