2K Games said Monday that the premium priced iOS release will deliver "the complete experience of the original" game, which launched on Xbox 360 and PC in 2007, on PS3 the following year and on Mac in 2009. It will feature optimised touch controls and full Made for iPhone game controller support. The game will be available "soon" and will be compatible with iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad 4, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5.
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/473063/original-bioshock-coming-to-ios-devices-this-summer/
iOS got a Bioshock game before the Vita. lol.
I wonder how good it will look. It's certainly a technological achievement nonetheless. It seems to be missing bloom effects that gave the humid/wet/damp atmosphere though
Wow. If it releases for android it's a day one buy. Hope it comes with the addons.
I don't understand how this would work, even on a tablet I mean, I guess if you had a controller connected by wifi/blutooth it wouldn't be too bad, idk
I remember having to get a new computer for this game because it wouldn't run with the last of the AGP graphics cards, now it runs on a little 5 inch slab in my pocket. Incredible.

I don't own a smartphone but I've played some egshooters on those a few times. It actually feels like playing a shooter on a console because the button layout is similar but the biggest problem is that you are always hiding too much screenspace with your fingers. And since you have too keep walking and aiming you can't put them away to see if something is in the corner which is essential for playing a shooter. It's cool to see what those phones are capable of, especially when it's about old pc games you liked, but I think egoshooters on touchscreens don't really work well to be honest.
Why do all the "good" games get released for ios first. Android holds a larger share of the mobile operating systems and also flows better in my own opinion
I'm actually pretty impressed with Apple's recent efforts to entice its gaming audience. Some of the controllers that are coming out are pretty decent looking such as the Madcatz CTRLI. If good, core games like this keep coming out, you can potentially have a legitimate game console in your phone or tablet - especially if you're able to output to TVs. Batteries are still shit tho and I can't vouch for iPad life as I don't own one, and you'll probably be fighting with storage, but I'm personally excited to see how this develops.
Am I the only one who was hoping for a HD remake for Bioshock 1 & 2 when 2K started teasing something?
They're fine as it is apart from a few technical problems.
imagine what's gonna happen when quantum computers are a thing far in the future
Quantum computing isn't faster than traditional computing for such things as videogames, they're meant for other kind of jobs, in which they're faster than traditional ones, but that doesn't mean they're "better" or "faster" in general terms. I don't know why you'd want to play this on a phone other than just the gimmick of playing it on a phone. It'd be pretty awful to play unless you bothered to get a controller to play it.

FPSes can work fine on touch. Of course they don't compare to physical controllers but it isn't half bad. I'm totally down to play some BS on a bus or train.
Why doomguy suddenly became a nerd?
That's not doomguy that's doomman, he is a wholly original character and any resemblance by him or the game he is in is entirely coincidental and cannot at all be proven because it doesn't, so do not imply that there is because there blatantly isn't, so there!

Damn doesn't support the original iPad Mini. Might still get it for my 5C, but the iPad would be better for controlling 3D games.
The secret is that mobile ports of classic PC games look like shit on mobile devices
It kinda looks like that on lowest on pc. I know, I was forced to play it like that back them.
HD remake of an HD game, why not
Bioshock hasn't aged particularly well (especially after directly comparing it to the Rapture in Burial at Sea) so it's not that unsurprising. I'd love to see Bioshock 1 and 2 boosted to the level of Infinite. It would make a little more sense than the recent Tomb Raider and Last of Us remasters, even if both of those are good on their own.

The graphical clarity is sub-par nowadays but the sheer polish of the aesthetic style entirely makes up for that. Maybe I'm just biased, but I think that aesthetic style trumps graphical clarity any day. I can still play HL1 perfectly fine without HD models because it has a tight and to the point graphical style, despite the low quality. Whereas the mix of Infinite-style models and Bioshock 1 assets in Burial at Sea is an absolute fucking disgrace to the 9+ years of work that was done on the Bioshock aesthetics and should probably involve someone up the Irrational food-chain getting kicked in the balls.

I remember how there was this big controversy over how the game only ran on Shader 3.0 cards, now phones can run it like it ain't no thang but a chicken wing

I remember I was pretty impressed when I saw shit like Wolfenstein RPG on the Iphone.
There actually was iPhone version set to release in 2008, but never did. It wouldn't of been the full game, only going up to Fort Frolic.
