ANAHEIM – Disneyland’s Innoventions attraction is closing March 31, a Disneyland spokesman said Friday, and rumors are already flying that "Star Wars" attractions could end up there. "As part of our continuing efforts to offer our guests new magic, we regularly make modifications and enhancements throughout the Disneyland Resort," said John McClintock, a Disneyland spokesman. "We have nothing further to announce at this time." The Tomorrowland building that houses Innoventions, which has been at Disneyland since 1967, currently holds several Marvel attractions, including the Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man exhibits with their full-size uniforms, a meet-and-greet and a video-game area. It is also home to Honda’s Asimo humanoid robot, and once featured the rotating Dream Home display on the first floor.
Source. It is sad to see what housed Marvel's first entry into the Disney Parks is closing, even though it was a glorified exhibit hall.
nooo bye bye tom morrow :((( [editline]6th March 2015[/editline]
I was the only one in my family who enjoyed going there. The last thing I remember doing there was dicking around with an SUV's radio and setting it to a local Spanish station before leaving. Feels like Tomorrowland is slowly turning into Star Wars Land since this is like, what, the 3rd Star Wars attraction now (if you count the live show)?
Oh fuck. I walked by this place every day on my way to work in EPCOT. Our building is attached to it. [editline]7th March 2015[/editline] Was not very popular FYI

i am calling bullshit. The Tomorrowland movie premieres this year and this ride plays a part in the movie i heard. it's insane to see this close down right near the release of it. i bet it's related to the tomorrowland ARG in some way (the ARG : http://docs.google.com/document/d/1Is-PH_ASc-um6jDD-BdS5wPNnuZ5fcayci_mRd2Yb5Y/edit?usp=sharing)

I really wish I could go to that iron man exhibit before it closes :(

That was the ride that was big in the movie, not Innovations.
whoa what a disney arg? this sounds cool, care to elaborate?
Basically it was a tie-in ARG for the Tommorowland Movie that ties into an Alternate History where Walt Disney was a member of a secret society that had many famous scientists and writers in it. It had a lot of throwbacks to the 1964's World Fair and they did some pretty neat things for it, such as record with a second audio track for the Carousal of Progress that syncs up with the ride: The game ended with the people who followed along joining this secret society. I don't think this closing has to do with the game though.
I've been going to Disneyland for a long time and I'm honestly not surprised. The building now is only used for Marvel stuff, which is kinda boring, and Xbox One Disney games. The bottom floor is entirely blocked off. I remember liking as a kid, but everything that was there is now in consumer hands. Like, I remember them showing off GPS in cars and segways years ago. People gotta remember that Disneyland needs to make use of their limited real estate the have. The building is possibly room for 1 or 2 new attractions. Right now, it's wasted space.
From what I've heard, they're beginning plans for a third park in LA. So wouldn't be surprised if they use that to expand on the Marvel/Star Wars side of things.

They would have to buy surrounding hotels, Which no way in hell they're gonna sell, and tear apart main roads.
there is still some unused land around disneyland
Damn I remember going there years ago and seeing a giant Microsoft surface table. This was before tablets and everyone had touchscreen devices so it was super cool to play with.
Heading to Disneyland soon, at least I'll be able to see Innoventions before it closes.
I work in Tomorrowland. They're already emptying it out for rehab.
i really hope they don't leave this building vacant for years like last time they pulled stuff out of it.
If this means they might be possibly bringing back Carousel of Progress to its original park, then, yes please. That ride seems to play more a part in the upcoming Tomorrowland movie than Innoventions.
