A 23-year-old man was hit with a brick, stabbed and robbed of the newly released Grand Theft Auto computer game after queuing up to buy it at a London supermarket.
The man was attacked as he walked home from the Asda store in Colindale, north London, shortly after buying a copy of the game following its midnight release.

Wondered how long it would take..
Nice highlight of the 'brutal' violence the game contains as well half way through the article.
That's too fucked up
Can't/Don't want to buy GTA 5 but you must have it? Rob someone like the sack of shit you are!
Jesus. Over a fucking video game.
Now the literal video games are causing violence MORE AT 11!!!

there is an extremely violent torture scene in the game that the IGN reviewer could barley stand to watch so there isn't any deny its violent but it shouldnt be mentioned in this context, this is literally a guy getting assaulted
I know it's been hyped to hell and back for 2 years but... it's just a game...
Personally I don't like it but I see why people like it. But stabbing a man? For a videogame?
Oh man. This is not going to end well. Violence for a fresh new game copy of GTA V? That´s crazy.
Also has anything something like that happened in the past?
holy shit, for a game?
my jaw dropped
Is it bad that I automatically assumed this happened in America?
it begins
as soon as the plastic of the GTA V case touched my fingertips i blacked out and when i woke up everyone in the room was dead and i was soaked in their blood SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME I AM SO SCARED
Hahahaha now that's in the GTA spirit. Rob your copy, don't buy it like some square. And of course when you rob the person, you have to beat the shit out of them too.
Busta! Straight busta!
See! Proof games cause violence!
Disillusioned naysayers! Your move!
Now Rockstar is going to add an easter-egg where stabbing a kid in an alley makes him drop a Meta copy of the game.
People get beat up and mugged all the time at night in cities like London. Why is this newsworthy?
If you want absolute safety, pay an extra $10 and get shit to delivered to your house.
Welcome to London.
wait a minute computer game?
Yep stay indoors all the time, and wait till they kick your doors in and you cower in the corner begging for your life whilst they rape your sister and beat your dad to death in front of you.
The article just raises the profile of the appalling state of crime in London and street crime in general. Which is a serious issue.
staying true to the game
Oi. Here we go again with the media.

Yes, yes it is. It means you've got a severe case of cranial-anal intrusion.
The treatment is painful, but it is effective. It involves a lot of pulling on the cranium so that it pops out of the anus.

extremely violent? hahahahha
For some reason the article forgot to mention how he was also robbed of his watch and phone. It wasn't "just for a game".
Guess I was wrong about no one is going to kill you over a video game
Too much realism;

Remember when the PS3 was first released? There was a similar incident. It's just scumbags after the latest stuff, actually scratch that I've heard of people beaten to death over a 20 pack of John Player cigarettes.
newly released Grand Theft Auto computer game
Wait there is a PC version already?
So... what the fuck is the point of that? That's such an asshole thing to do.
And it's only going to cause stupid people will think this is super meaningful and get all pissy about it as usual.
Something tells me it wasn't even about the game either purely.
