The Indian-owned, British-made off-road brand is calling out the Chinese over the LandWind X7 which, like all good fakes, is a remarkably close approximation of the real thing, that goes for a lot less money. In this case, the Range Rover Evoque, which the X7 apes, sells for 40,000 pounds ($62,000 at today's rates) Autocar reports, while the Chinese version will retail for a meager 14,000 quid ($22,000).
http://www.autoblog.com/photos/landwind-x7/#photo-3135445/
Wow, thats actually really good looking
I wonder if it's just a really standard car that is just as durable as anything else and can survive 100,000 miles. Or will the stitching come apart, glue melts off panels during the summer, software failing, the usual symptoms of Chinese knockoffs.
It's an offroad vehicle I don't think it'll last a day.
Just my opinion, but that thing looks too "prettyboy" to seem capable of serious offroad work (although no doubt the folks at Land Rover must've given it some muscle). It's the most stylish SUV out there for sure, so atleast the folks at Landwind (a name that regretfully makes me think of farts) have good taste for choosing which vehicle to blatantly copy. It's kind of like expecting the Queen to do 200 m hurdles - you know she could be capable of it, but it would pain you to see it.
Land Rover need only talk to BMW before deciding whether or not to sic their lawyers on this chinese company. The X5 was cloned like this and China ruled in favor of the clonemaker saying the clone looked nothing like the real X5 despite being an almost mirror image. If your car wears out that fast it was a shoddily built piece of shit. Cars should last three times that long.

As the Range Rover is advertised as for.

Meanwhile, you've had this post that's probably actually a little bit racist, rather than just the result of a stunted vocabulary. I'm not sure what you're doing, really. Anyway, since you clearly don't know what you're talking about, let me remind you that China has a massive automotive manufacturing industry and a chunk of that is manufacturing foreign cars. Toyota, Ford, etc) Their ability to manufacture cars is well documented and proven, and it's probably the reason why these cheaper clones are even possible. This is only news because Landrover has no manufacturing plant in China, (that I know of) and so far every clone has been of a make and model previously manufactured in China or had mostly Chinese-made parts.
Pretty much a 1:1, other than the bottom of the doors and the grille. Which is a shame, because the evoque is trying too hard imo

It can traverse a few jagged rocks at best but it will have a tough job going through slightly tougher trails. Compared to Defenders or other heavy duty offroaders, its almost nothing. Its kind of like the range rover sport or whatever. It can do muddy roads and stuff, but it cant do much else. Its more of a city car with offroading abilities.
Is there anything the Chinese won't make shitty copies of? All this fucking effort making a halfassed copy when they could make their own design.
Is there anything the Chinese won't make shitty copies of? All this fucking effort making a halfassed copy when they could make their own design.
The Chinese are not big risk takers, they much rather someone else take the risk for them, then copy the success.
IIRC The Chinese have 'their own needs' when it comes to cars which most western manufacturers just don't have. So to cash in on the profit local manufacturers makes similar cars that suits the market needs. Its also why some company like Audi and Mercedes actually have China specific models.

If Aliens invade earth the chinese will replicate all their tech within two days
I wonder what ANCAP rating it will be given though...
Wow, thats actually really good looking
So is the Evoque
