Police in Mexico have found 15 mutilated bodies dumped in two cars in the western state of Jalisco. A threatening note left with the bodies suggested they were victims of a gangland killing. The region has seen a rise in violence as the Zetas drug cartel tries to wrest control of the area from its rival, the Sinaloa cartel. Around 50,000 people have died in drug-related violence since President Felipe Calderon came to power in 2006. Jalisco State Prosecutor Tomas Coronado did not rule out there could be more victims. He said 15 heads had been found, but that judging by the number of other body parts, the number of dead could rise further. Extreme violence The bodies were so badly mutilated, forensic experts have not yet been able to tell if they are male or female. Police found the remains in two abandoned cars by the side of a road leading to Lake Chalapa, an area popular with foreign tourists. Officials said they had received an anonymous tip-off early in the morning leading them to the bodies. They said a threatening note found in one of the cars suggested the Zetas drug cartel was behind the gruesome killing. According to US geopolitical analysis firm Stratfor, the Zetas have become Mexico's largest drug cartel operating in more than half of all Mexican states. The Zetas are infamous for resorting to extreme violence in their battle to take over control of drug-trafficking routes Jalisco, once under the influence of the Sinaloa cartel, has witnessed a series of multiple murders over the past year. In one of the most recent, the bodies of 26 people were found in three cars in the state capital, Guadalajara, in November.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-18014646

It's a shame that all of this is going on. I used to look up a bunch of information pertaining to the drug war. It's interesting, but fucking Hell is it awful.
The bodies were so badly mutilated, forensic experts have not yet been able to tell if they are male or female.
Holyshit... It's like there are only news of that kind from Mexico, there is not a single day where I don't read the discovering of decapitated bodies...
when I read the title I thought "Mexico" and I was right.
when I read the title I thought "Mexico" and I was right.
so you couldn't connect Jalisco with Mexico?
so you couldn't connect Jalisco with Mexico?
nope
This is the name of my street, I was terrified until I read the post. This is really sad :(
it is, at this point we need a government intervention
Whose government? You can't be implying that America should be involved- we're the ones who made the situation. And Mexico already has troops in the street. Military and government power isn't the solution here. The best way to fix the problem would be to rebuild the Mexican economy. The reason the cartels work is because they have people desperate enough to work with or for them, people desperate enough to be paid off, officials who are corrupt enough and power-hungry and poor and rich and this and that who are benefited more by working with the cartels than they are working with the government. When the government doesn't have money, when there's no economic incentive, when there isn't a health alternative, people in Mexico have no choice but to side with the cartels, whoa re rich, and healthy as an organization, and only getting better.
Can we invade Mexico, quench the Insurgency and bomb their holy sites.
Can we invade Mexico, quench the Insurgency and bomb their holy sites.
hey guess what no
hey guess what no
Why? They are more insecure then Iraq and at our border.
Welcome to Mexico.
Can we invade Mexico, quench the Insurgency and bomb their holy sites.
Insurgency? What? Why would you bomb their holy sites? Mexico may be fucked up but it's an ally. Unless you do that because you want to create insurgency.
Every week there is a massacre in Mexico that makes headlines, thats borderline Insurgency with all the territorial drug lords down there.
this is a job for blackwater
you know, bringing in mercenaries to fight the cartels might not be such a bad idea
Mutilated beyond gender recognition? Jesus Christ, I would hate to have been the Federale that popped the trunk.
you know, bringing in mercenaries to fight the cartels might not be such a bad idea
Who is going to pay more the US gov or the cartels? That or they start there own cartel ala los zetas.
And this is why the war on drugs has failed. Perhaps time to think it over before more human lives are lost?
And this is why the war on drugs has failed. Perhaps time to think it over before more human lives are lost?
Its going to happen anyways you hippie, legalization isn't going to stop a cartel war it will only fund it.
