Well this is coming from an era where it's not every day to encounter someone filming with a video camera. The guy buying the sugar at 2:30 in the morning even asked if he was from a local TV station. If you were to try this nowadays they'd probably try to snap your iPhone in half :v:

This guy has so many videos, the earliest I can find is 1968! It's weird to see this sort of thing; most of the tine you'd have to dig out the old cassettes and play them on the TV - I love how he's digitised them all

Everywhere else I've seen this video everyone's constantly been going on about how the world was a better place back then and oh look at how everyone was so nice I wish I could live then etc etc, which annoys me. Turns out there was less of that in this thread than I expected there was going to be, so I guess it was kind of an unnecessary pre-emptive strike or something.

but honestly man there are a mighty lot of jackasses looking at this and envisioning it as the entire 80s or some shit. Nobody wants a damn camera in their face nowadays because it isn't that much of a novelty, any goddamned idiot can get their hands on a camcorder and flip shit and try to get easy views on YouTube to fuel their nonexistent job or some shit. Hate to generalize but that's just the product of the generation, you don't have to talk to someone face-to-face anymore so it kinda kills the real interaction between most people, and so what? Things change, it isn't necessarily completely bad. There are completely natural and cool conversations between random people all the time, it's just that when you pull out a camera it kills the mood rather than makes it better. It gives you a bad sense of hey I might be immortalized with this camera doing something embarrassing and stupid when back then whatever the hell you did would be forever embedded in history and it would be cool that some stranger has some footage of you way back, (probably.) Nobody wants to do things just for the hell of it.
Watching this at exactly 2:31 AM made this video absolutely perfect. Man, I like people.

People in those days were probably a little more amicable in front of a camcorder because there was no chance of having it put on Youtube or somewhere on the Internet.
Yeah, I just think it was simpler times. Like when you were a kid and the only things you cared about were your friends and goofing off. Didn't have to worry about much.
