I wonder how many people will actually believe that's exactly how it looks as seen in the video
hopefully it does but
It would be cool if I could see everyone else's holograms when I walk around and see holograms placed throughout the world.
Then I would buy it.

that's pretty damn effective then :v:

Spacial recognition and making 3d models automatically track parts of the environment isn't exactly unprecedented. Being able to do it in real-time is impressive, but it's not some impossible feat.
the tech industry lives in an alternate fucking reality i swear to god
[editline]29th April 2015[/editline]
like yeah this is what i've been waiting for: ski googles that lead me around my apartment in a way that makes me look like i'm on mescaline
yeah, just without the goggles

look at the optics there isn't a lcd matrix to overlay with the light being casted from the optics.
it's the same optic tech google glass, where it's adding in light. The overlay from the camera in the presentation is not additive but replacing the colors in the images coming it.
just picked this off of google in a few seconds

at ~4mins in, the leaves from the trees reflecting the light from the sun appear over the blackness of the shirt. Also the feeling of dark background in google glass is because of the contrast with some light being emitted to a lot of light with the text.
the major difference you would see from the presentation if the camera was instead you wearing hololens, the background from the movie trailer would be visible.
So the environment and use of colors within that environment, is going to be constricted but capable, just can't watch any movie in a well lit area and a UI color scheme that would work well is Easter based.
Oh, if you want darker colors, use the same tech for sun glasses which hololens uses.
Representing the virtual space, physically.
Now you don't even have to sit in front of a computer to become lethargic, apathetic, and pathetic.
"welcome to the meme room, have a seat on the floor."

I have a ScreenCap from the previous demo
They just put a hololens in front of the camera lens :v:
Finally, I can have a wall-to-wall porn room.
Finally, I can have a wall-to-wall porn room.
You don't already? Huh..
I want to do 3D modeling with this. Also, it better respond to "Jarvis" and have an English accent.
I cant wait to put furry porn on all my walls and then let guests in my home try it out
"Modelled after his apartment" That's great if you have the room. For example, "UK has the smallest homes by floor space area of any European country with the average new build property covered just 76sq m compared with almost double that amount of 137sq m in Denmark." Our houses are tiny, many people I've talked to couldn't get the kinect to work because they couldn't get far away enough from the kinect. So seeing this work in a tiny space is going to be interesting.
Imagine in the future if houses had really basic furniture, no ornaments or decorations. You'd be walking around a vibrant, exciting room then take off the goggles and see the reality as something quite bland.
That's actually what's kinda sad about this. Same goes for the virtual dog, I think the whole thing has depressing undertones

They had holographic decorations in Psycho Pass anime. Future is anime.

Nevermind, I stopped being lazy and looked myself.
Getting that Heavy Rain vibe right now.
Now I can watch questionable porn-videos on all of my living room walls, forget them there, tell a guest to "Check out this cool thing" then go "Uh, shit. WAITWAITWAITWAIT."
Pretty amazing stuff really. I honestly hope it is as good as they are saying it is.
If they have managed to deal with eye strain properly then I see this taking off, if not then I can't see anyone using this for more than half an hour. I personally don't have a single piece of flat wall in my room because of all the shit in it but due to how the window technology works I could probably just have them floating in front or something. Seems pretty cool but will probably cost a boat and a leg.

So I could either buy this new technology or become a literal pirate?
Now i'm conflicted on where my money should go...

From hands on reports, zero eye strain. The "holograms" are extremely solid, no jitter, no lag, and no translucency. Like seriously real feeling.
The huge problem with the device is the field of view, you only see the holograms within a small rectangle in front of you. The reports have equated it to a large TV in front of you, or a "single square credit card 2 inches from your face". Things that are far away look fine, but anything that comes closer starts clipping off the top/side/bottom because of the field of view.

If it really functions as seen, I don't think people will give a shit about what this looks like.
