Markiplier is an amazing fellow, but damn I can't watch his videos anymore. It's feels like he's forcing his reactions now for the money and views. He was great playing horror indie games, but now it's just gmod stuff, happy wheels highlights and rarely some horror indie games.
I miss the old markiplier.
There sure is a lot of incorrect information there for what is essentially nothing but bits ripped from the Doom Wiki. There were not five playable characters planned in the Doom Bible. There were four, hence game's the four player multiplayer support and the line from the Doom Bible that states "These are the four characters in Doom". Buddy Dacote, "the guy that dies", was not a playable character as he dies at the conclusion of that episode, hence the Doom Bible stating that Dacote "Dies at conclusion of this episode." The page that says all of this is shown in the video, but I guess actually reading it was too hard when it's just easier to recite facts verbatim from the wiki.
Doom was a game that had just as much work applied to secrets and cameos as the game itself. It is awesome

Recently, he made a post on Facebook wondering why his videos started getting more dislikes and what he should do to change that. Most of his fans mentioned his overreaction to everything and how loud he is all the time. Then he replied saying that he doesn't overreact and that those are his genuine reactions. "I'm loud because it's entertaining" etc. :v:
I've got a fact
The Track "Nobody Told Me About id" in Doom 1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cixW6rogZ48#t=2573
Was also used by Bobby Prince in "Blake Stone: Planet Strike" as the track "Mourning"

I had the great honor of getting kicked of markipliers server in contagion early beta cuz these bums didnt know how to make it password protected

and the fact that they said spears of destiny was a sequel to wolfenstein, when it's actually a prequel.
I never liked that idea on story in games. "Story in games is like Story in porn, don't matter fuck et".

That's kind of all this series is; bits of trivia you'd know if you spent a day on each series' respective wiki. But to those who don't, it's neat to have the most interesting bits collected up into a short video.

Really depends on the type of game, in my opinion. For example, you wouldn't expect a deep story from a Mario platformer, since those games are all about the gameplay.

To be fair, Mark isn't the one that writes it.
That's kind of all this series is; bits of trivia you'd know if you spent a day on each series' respective wiki.
Then this series should be renamed to "man reads stuff from wiki and still makes a lot of errors." Even if this is just supposed to be stuff you could learn yourself in a hour or two of reading the respective game wikis or TCRF articles, it's clear that these guys didn't put even that much effort in and just shoved a bunch of unrelated wiki facts together. This information isn't exactly hard to find. Doom is one of the most well researched and archived games in existence. There's even a book dedicated entirely to its creation and cultural impact, naturally not even mentioned in the video. As noted above, the complete absence of all of the alpha and beta versions of Doom is pretty glaring, especially since there's a lot of discussion of Tom Hall's original design which is reflected starkly in those early builds. Why not mention the fact that the guy who made Doom's latex monster models also happened to work on a little known known film series called Robocop? If you're going to mention Doom95, why not also mention Gabe Newell's role in its creation, a pivotal event that lead to the formation of an obscure game developer called Valve Software?
And if you're going to mention the Bill Gates video, why not also mention id's commissioned "eight foot tall vagina with dildo teeth" that preceded it at the same event? i like his voice
When talking about the music inspirations, they didn't mention that At Doom's Gate was inspired by the intro to Master of Puppets
They didn't mention Romero's Head either, or the hidden message in the icon of sin's speech.
I accidently stumbled upon this guy while looking for gameplay footage of SUPERHOT. I immediately closed the video after 20 seconds max. He would not stop talking and every single thing about him screamed that he was trying way too hard. He's even worse than pewdiepie in my opinion.
I've never seen any of his content outside of DYKG but from what everyone is saying, it's a real shame his stuff apparently sucks so bad because I genuinely like his voice. :(

i think it's safe to say that nearly everyone who's played doom 2 knows about this already
I would have sex with his voice

I'm sure John Carmack regrets what he said seeing as how Uncharted, Gears of War, The Last of Us, Bioshock and more games that I don't care to list - all have been based solely around gameplay and an amazing story and have all been rated some of the best games of our generation.
they completely neglected the fact that gabe newell himself had a part in the doom port for win95 when he was still working at microsoft.

Or maybe they just wanted to focus on Doom stuff and not turn it into another "Gabe is God" video.
The things people say they "forgot" are probably going to be in "DYKG- Doom Part 2". They had to cut it down to 10 minutes, after all.
Or maybe they just wanted to focus on Doom stuff and not turn it into another "Gabe is God" video.
but it is doom related, and it's somebody people know.

when i watch these videos i expect more obscure facts that most people don't know, not facts listed off the first wiki that comes off of google search.

You're expecting the wrong thing then, given that most of DYKG's videos are like that.

Yet Doom 3 had a really fucking complicated story.
Yet Doom 3 had a really fucking complicated story.
Not really. UAC creates teleporter technology for their own gains, one of the head researchers (whose name is German is rather meaningful as to his nature) finds that it can link to old ancient Martian technology the demons have in Hell and makes a pact with the demons for power in exchange for their freedom. I mean, it's basically the original Doom but with the added efforts of Betruger being the primary cause rather than it just happening, and the Martian precursors bit with a lot of implications and the method to re-sealing Hell. Everything else is essentially a lot of extra fluff added ontop, like Swann's efforts to stop Betruger, Bravo Team, the various background details and such.
Not that it's a bad thing, and I really don't mind the lack of plot in the original Doom. But even the RPG games aren't that complex for Doom. If Doom 4 tries to be cinematic, so long as it doesn't drag the gameplay down or be completely and utterly inane then I really don't care; there's not much to mess up with the premise of the plot by itself.

Those are all neat facts, but there's really no criteria for what "should" be in these videos. The only thing that should matter is how accurate their information is and so far, the only error you've pointed out is that there were four planned playable characters instead of five.
I don't know a lot about Doom since I don't crawl wikis about it, so this was all neat stuff to see from my perspective. They've covered other games that I did have a lot of wiki-smarts about, and I've always been impressed at how accurate and obscure their trivia selection is. If they make mistakes, they're once-in-a-while deals. As a whole, though, their series is really interesting and I applaud them for presenting actual facts when most other ~gaming trivia~ shows make up a whole bunch of bullshit speculation narrated by obnoxious, self-important hosts. DYKG is the only channel in this vein that I watch.
So far, your beef with them just boils down to "I already knew all that, this part is wrong, and they could've said a lot more stuff (which I already knew and everyone else should already know)." Being such a Doom trivia buff, I'm not sure what you expected walking into a video about Doom trivia.
man condenses an hour's worth of trivia into 8 minutes and makes a single mistake in the process
