too bad pavel is a cunt
I'll be checking this out for sure. The other ones were more than worth it :buddy:
Well time to play STALKER
It looked like an atmosfear trailer. He didn't even bother to change the textures for the shitty looking explosions or the grass textures. Why does this even deserve it's own name when it's just a compilation? What about revamping the character models or their loadouts? How about new weapons and artifacts? It can still be an enhanced vanilla experienced with careful additions that looked like they were in the game already and don't jut out.
Sweet! With awesome features such as "Real Weapon Names" and "Loot money from NPC's", this will surely redefine my stalker experience! :)
Really? You guys are downloading this?
I'm not bashing it, I'm just not really impressed by a mod that doesn't alter gameplay in any significant fashion.
I mean, if this were added to a really cool gameplay mod, then sure, but there isn't really anything new here.
ill play this mod after i finish COP i just want to complete it all vanilla (yummm)
I hope it has a Wish Granter like in Clear Sky

Remember when we were all sitting around for Priboi Story to come out? :v:
Good times..We won't see the likes of those anymore. (Until Lost Alpha gets a confirmed release date)

Yeah I'm a little sad that CoP hasn't gotten more mods. Seems the mod community has temporarily pooped out.
Tushkano.
I fucking hate Tushkano. :saddowns::arghfist:

I was making a gameplay mod for CoP when it first came out. It was the CoP iteration of my never-once-finished-though-often-progressed-very-far mod "Wrath of Chernobyl"
I just got bored of working on it, though, ultimately knowing that no one would really care. Shit sucks man. :smith:
Fuck yes it has a wish granter
esc+F1
Jesus christ, guys, Redux is much better then this.
CoP disappointed me... Maybe it's because i played the previous 2 games, but it seriously was nothing new apart from some engine improvements. The artifact detectors made artifact hunting 100% less exciting. It also seemed rather cramped and linear compared to the other games.
SoC will still always hold a place in my heart that no other STALKER game can get to.
CoP was best :v:

A million times this. I don't know how the hell GSC managed to pull it off, but they made the most large-scale and open-ended of the three games (CoP) the most dragging and linear of them all. I think it's mostly because the map is so massive, but there is nothing to do. I literally got so bored playing it, I still haven't finished the damn game. I've beat Clear Sky twice, and SHOC like 7 times (each time with different mods, too :v:). I can not bring myself to bother finishing CoP.
Fall-Out: New Vegas had the same exact problem - the map is quite large, but unless you have a quest telling you to go somewhere, there is absolutely no incentive to go there.
Like Merz, SHOC will always be the ultimate STALKER game for me.
How is there nothing to do? The general goals remain the same as the first stalker. Get rich searching for expensive artifacts, find loot caches, get involved in missions for people.
That's pretty much the first Stalker. I really enjoyed CoP.
Ironically enough I've never beat a Stalker game though for some reason. Got to that one city in Clear Sky, and just...stopped playing. Lost interest really (and I kept crashing at that part).
Got to Pripyat, uncovered that mysterious gun and... just stopped playing. I don't know why but I guess post apocolyptic settings, as they are currently implemented in games, can only hold my interest for about 30-50 or so hours before I get bored and interested in something else.It was the same with Fallout 3. I love the high attention to atmosphere and immersion, but I guess I don't get boners for apocolyptic settings like some people do.
I just hate how Pavel is a massive pretentious cunt.

Yeah seriously it doesnt get much more pretentious than having the name artist in your name
Damn, it's going to be awhile before I'll want to play Stalker again. I played through all of them at least twice not too long ago.
Says the install version works on steam, but it can't find my steam installation...

It's not that there is nothing to do, it's that you're spoonfed the gameplay (ex. detectors, which sucked all the fun out of hunting for artifacts - you can't even hunt for them manually without a detector since they are invisible.).
In SHOC you could literally go somewhere obscure because there's stuff to do and reasons to do it. Like in the cordon, there's that tunnel with the electro anomalies. Sure, there might not be anything worth looking for in that tunnel, but the anomalies make it interesting. There's also that abandoned mill house with the artifact in it, which nobody prompts you to go find. You just stumble across it or find it by deliberately looking around. There are places i probably missed in SHOC which i probably should have explored because it's just so goddamn fun. And it feels genuinely creepy, like you aren't supposed to be there because nobody told you to go there. But you do it anyways because you're a badass motherfucker.
In CoP the artifacts all spawn in obvious places (ie. The hard to reach place that has a stupid convoluted path to it, like on that crooked tree thing or on the boat in the swamp) and the detector makes it stupidly easy to find them. There's nothing really interesting to do on areas of the map with no markers. In general it just feels more dumbed down, like they added training wheels to what i considered perfect gameplay. I felt genuinely insulted at times because the devs made things so blaringly obvious. It feels like playing the call of duty campaign on easy. It's essentially just a scripted cinematic thing with a little bit of casual shooting on the side.
Also, the game seemed a lot.... Shorter. Not as many fun little side-missions. The maps also seemed smaller to me.

I wouldn't call grabbing artifacts in SoC "hunting", it's more akin to "walk on road, find five koloboks". In my opinion the detector system of CS and CoP improved the system a hundredfold.
There were some pretty common ones i will admit (i think i found like a million jellyfish) but having to manually hunt for artifacts was at least a LITTLE more intuitive and fun than being spoonfed their exact location through a detector. In CoP i literally collected every single artifact with very little difficulty.
seems like there haven't been many truly good mods for clear sky or call of pripyat (besides SGM)
