• News agencies are reporting that the Pentagon will today certify that Don't Ask Don't Tell can be repealed. • After this, President Obama will notify Congress that all three of the required parties have approved DADT repeal. • This will begin a 60-day waiting period, after which gay people will be allowed to serve openly in the US military for the first time. According to the official, who spoke on condition of not being identified, an announcement of that certification -- which is required to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy -- is likely to come Friday. Under a bill passed last year that set up a process for repealing the controversial policy, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen, along with President Barack Obama, have to sign a certification that confirms the military's ability to accept the integration of openly gay and lesbian troops. Even after certification, there will be a 60-day waiting period before the repeal is fully implemented.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-14245144
The Pentagon is set to announce that the ban on gay people openly serving in US military is to end, officials say. Defence Secretary Leon Panetta is expected to certify the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" (DADT), seven months after the law was overturned in the Senate. After the repeal, the Pentagon had asked for time to prepare troops for the arrival of openly gay colleagues. The ban officially ceases 60 days after certification.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/07/21/pentagon-to-announce-friday-repeal-military-gay-ban/
The Pentagon will announce Friday that it is ready to certify the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell," the controversial 1993 law that banned gays from serving openly in the military, two U.S. officials told Fox News. By law, a 60-day waiting period then goes into effect before the repeal is officially implemented, likely by the end of September. The certification was expected after all the military services were given a chance to train their forces and prepare them for the repeal. All four branches are now largely done with the training. It's still unknown how the Pentagon will make the announcement, but there is speculation that it could be in the form of a paper statement from the White House. President Obama has to certify the repeal when Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, sends it to his desk. Then the president sends it to Congress. The White House, which is in the midst of trying to avert a debt crisis, is likely more inclined to speak about the repeal after it officially takes place, following the 60-day waiting period.
I was surprised to see the DADT stuff in my contract when I joined the Army a few months ago; I thought it had already been repealed.
The military is gay
About fucking time.
Everyone should be allowed to be a meat shield for the US government and the interests of big business.
The military is gay
ABOUT TIME!
And so begins the decline of civilization. It was fun but I guess the damn liberals hate humanity.
I can't tell if you're serious.
If he seriously thought things like that he wouldn't have been on FP so long
gays are literally worse than hitler
Gonna get my sodomy on.
I just have a feeling not to many people in the military are going to be happy with this. Gonna be a shit load of internal affairs issues when the homosexuals move in with the homophobic soldiers.
I can't tell if you're serious.
I hope he is, the faggots should burn in hell.
Gonna be a shit load of internal affairs issues when the homosexuals move in with the homophobic soldiers.
Yet it's often Homophobic soldiers who rape other soldiers?
My pastor told me that gays are satan and bad
My pastor told me that gays are satan and bad
My pastor sodomised me. So much for the healing power of christ.

If nearly all of the European forces can put up with having gays around them I'm sure the Americans can.
My pastor sodomised me. So much for the healing power of christ.
It will heal in a week or so.
I just have a feeling not to many people in the military are going to be happy with this. Gonna be a shit load of internal affairs issues when the homosexuals move in with the homophobic soldiers.
They actually did a poll about it before the congressional hearings and an overwhelmingly large percentage of active duty soldiers said they would not be effected if openly gay individuals could serve. My friend in the Army says that most of the people he knows are completely open to the idea and, frankly, don't care what sex you are.
Maybe the marines. But they're expendable. Seriously why have a mostly religious branch if one of the main principles is "Dont kill motherfucker"
Smurfy, can you just post all the gay related news in this section? Because you do a much better, impartial job of it rather than making up sensationalist headlines and using Right Wing Watch as a source.
