Woman plied teens with alcohol before sex No jail because of "low self-esteem" Schools hide weaker students Laura O'Donnell walked free from court. Laura O'Donnell, 20, pleaded guilty and was convicted in the County Court of four counts of sexual penetration of a child under 16 and five counts of committing an indecent act with a child under 16. Court documents reveal she plied the boys, aged 12, 15, and two aged 14, with alcohol on three separate occasions. The first two involved one victim and the third, all four. Documents show O'Donnell, who had trained to be a childcare worker, assaulted the boys while drunk between February and June last year in Ballarat . Judge Sue Pullen wholly suspended O'Donnell's two-year, five-month sentence and placed her on an 18-month community-based order despite her previously breaching a similar order for an attempted robbery. A report handed to Judge Pullen by a community corrections officer said O'Donnell repeatedly breached her 125-hour order and even failed to attend an assessment for the order she was eventually granted. The judge attributed her offending to a troubled background, low self-esteem and alcohol abuse. Crime Victims Support Association president Noel McNamara said the sentence was a disgrace. "If it was a man on those charges it would have been a different story," he said. So because she has low self esteem she manages to get off the sex offenders register?
Oh man I feel bad about myself. I think I'll go rape some women to feel better. brb
"It's not my fault I got drunk :downs:"
And I bet if it was a boy having sex with four drunk girls he would get the sentence right away.
And if this was reversed, hello 5+ years and lifetime on the sex offenders list. Whoever judged this case should be terminated for sexual bias immediately.
Damn it. Wish I was there.

She got charged with sexual penetration on a person younger than 16. :v:
She used the Mel Gibson Defense http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/155308/mel-gibson-defense
Judge Sue Pullen problem right there
Our justice system is so fucking corrupted it is sickening.
Why didn't this happen to me when i was 15? :suicide:
Niiiiicee..
Was she drunk or did she get the kids drunk
Documents show O'Donnell, who had trained to be a childcare worker, assaulted the boys while drunk
because that can read either way edit: never mind saw the bullet points she needs to be registered as a sex offender at the very least
How did she get found out? I seriously doubt the boys would of complained.
How did she get found out? I seriously doubt the boys would of complained.
Whips and chains may have been involved. Or maybe she used her finger in places she wasn't supposed to.
I wish a woman would give me alcohol and sex on me...
Maybe it's the picture but she looks fucking evil!
"victims"
Maybe it's the picture but she looks fucking evil!
She looks like a man, baby.
are you kidding me wait, seriously, what the fuck how does she get off scot-free? how? our justice system is fucking retarded. I hope they appeal and this goes to an appellate court with a non-retarded judge and they throw the fucking book at her. So you're telling me that "low self esteem" is a get out of jail free card? I'm going to go rob a bank and use that defense.
Wooh double standards :woop:
This ain't right at all. Just because she's female she gets off lightly? That's some sexist discrimination there, even if it is positive regarding her sentence. Still, if she's had a troubled "backstory", she needs therapy to sort out whatever fuckness messed with her head when she was younger. After all, isn't the penal system meant to rehabilitate criminals, instead of ONLY keeping them separate from non-offenders? The way I see it, prisons should be places of mental healing, instead of just places to store lawbreakers for the sole purpose of keeping them away from the public. Don't get me wrong, dangerous individuals need to be kept away from those that might come to harm from them, but they also need to have their minds sorted out; work out what's wrong with them and help them achieve moral and mental catharsis, so they can become better people and avoid doing true harm to their society. But religion probably needs to stay out of the picture of rehabilitation; we don't want to risk infection during the healing process. All in all, that woman needs help; she needs to achieve catharsis to save herself and others. Addendum; there needs to be muchos investment in actual rehabilitation.
brb i'm going to get drunk and fuck some under 16s because i have very low self-esteem
So because she has low self esteem she manages to get off the sex offenders register?
I was thinking it was because she was a woman, but this as well I suppose.

After ironman17 I've got not much to add except that it's fucking retarded.
I understand the hypocrisy of this double standard but I were to think about this honestly, I couldn't help but feel that although this and the ruling are pretty bad (making underage kids drink?), the crime itself is less severe than that of reversed genders. I guess I just can't help but feel that women are more vulnerable and manipulated in sex-related crimes; I would be more sympathetic to this girl than to a male counterpart. obviously I'm not going to say that I'm right with this opinion (nor admit that it is strongly held), because I can see and respect the contradictions of it myself, but this is how I reacted to the story, in all frankness.
