Orr said Kevin Gienger, 55, Kensal, is in custody in the Stutsman County Correctional Center. He said Gienger possibly faces charges of stolen property and mistreating animals, both Class A misdemeanors. Gienger is accused of taking a Kensal woman’s [U]purebred poodle[/U] on Saturday and castrating it Sunday, Orr said. Orr said a sheriff’s deputy recovered the dog from Gienger’s residence Sunday, Orr said. He said some scalpels and syringes were taken from Gienger’s residence as evidence. It is unknown if the dog received any anesthetic for the procedure. The dog was returned to its owner, who took it to Southwood Veterinary Clinic, Jamestown. A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by up to a year in prison and a $2,000 fine.
