I disagree, although I think he would be better than the current director. It would be the same gritty modern bond though, and I hate that. I love espionage, cheese, and some ridiculousness in my bond movies. It's why I loved the Connery films, they were so pop-60's corny style spy movie, but still really classy. The new bond films lack any sort of emotion, they just feel stale and cold. And Danial Craig is good for the serious style bond role, but it's the reason why I don't like him. He's just not bond to me.
I'm really interested to see what he'll be able to do with the film. He's a great director.

will this take place after Skyfall or will it be it's own thing.?
Skyfall had some silliness in it.
I actually haven't seen skyfall yet, but it's just because of my distaste for the new bond movie style. Everything about it just seems a product of this generation, and I guess I just don't like it that way. I mean for example, Connery gets stuck in an interrogation laser death torture device thingy, but in the new bond doesn't he get whipped in the balls or something? I mean this the kind of mood differences I am talking about.
Skyfall reignited my hype for the 007 Series. It wasn't the best bond, but it [sp]was a beautiful tribute to all the bonds that came before, and gave a particularly powerful sendoff for Judi Dench in her role as M, which was hard for me to see as she was literally the M of my generation.[/sp] If Nolan does direct (which would be absolutely wonderful to me, though I admit I have only seen his super popular movies), I hope that he keeps the changes made in Skyfall, and uses it as a continuation for whatever he does. [This sounds dumb, but the spoilers here are serious, don't click them if you have an interest in seeing Skyfall]

If you still don't like it, then you can say that you don't like new Bond style.
Wouldnt that apply in some way to a few of the bond films in their own respective eras?
You would be exactly correct. I guess I just like more paced and classy but corny styles of the old bond movies I guess. It won't probably ever go back though. I mean movie-wise there were a lot of terrible ones, but I still really enjoyed even the bad ones, they still had some kind of soul to them. I think Nolan could actually take it in a direction that pleases everybody, but considering his movies are a lot more sensational big epic booming movie style, I am not so sure. I mean if Daniel Craig got switched for someone else I would be intrigued but a lot of people love him so that is not going to happen soon.
I don't think Nolan would be the best fit. I find he loves to make things overly dark and gritty. I like my Bond with action and witty quips.
Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace didn't quite sit too well with me but Skyfall was just brilliant. Whatever happens I'm excited for Bond's future.

Nolans problem is that he makes things very epic and large and overbearing, while bond movies don't really have that drawn out vibe imo, so it wouldn't work perhaps.

I'm seriously love me some James Bond. They're some of my all-time favorite movies. That said Casino Royale and QoS both made me very sad. Then Skyfall came and I was in love. I actually think I liked it more than most of the Brosnan films. I didn't like it as much as the Connery/Moore films though, but I don't think I'll ever like any Bond film more than those so it was to be expected. As much as I like Nolan I'm a bit worried about this. The biggest problem with the first to Craig films were that they were way too serious and the attempts to make it gritty ruined the whole thing. Skyfall was an almost perfect combo of old-style and new-style Bond. I'd assume this new film will be an original story as well since there's only around 3 Fleming stories left afaik. So maybe if they can repeat what they did with Skyfall and balance things out just a little better this will have the potential to be an amazing movie.
wow, just wow hope the new one brings back a little more of the traditional bond experience, the cars with gadgets, some spying, maybe a bond chick can we not get a gay villain though, that was just awkward [editline]18th May 2013[/editline] id love to see more about quantum, seems like they played that one out after quantum of solace, but i wouldnt be heartbroken if they didnt
I need to watch all James bond when I get the chance does netflix have all james bond?
No, but it has quite a few.
I'd be fine with Inception style, but I sure as hell couldn't deal if Bond was as dark as Batman.
Lmao batman was a lighter affair than casino royale or skyfall was. Even the DKR had more quips and humor than skyfall did. Shit nigga skyfall is bleak and fucking moody. I mean did people suddenly forget the bond films are literally about a government sanctioned murderer and high functioning sociopath?
I only wish for a more gadget focused bond franchise
It'd probably be better if he wrote the film with his brother, like he normally does, and then overlooked the production of the film in a producer role. Similar to how they're doing Man of Steel.
I can imagine the dialogue now. evil north korean officer: "You're a big guy." Bond: "For you."
Lets hope with Nolan in charge he shoots it on film instead of digital which Skyfall was, and in my opinion is incredibly stupid for future proofing reasons.
The only thing i didnt like about Skyfall was the villain. He was alright but it wasnt a Bond villain for me.
The only thing i didnt like about Skyfall was the villain. He was alright but it wasnt a Bond villain for me.
If you thought that Silva wasn't a Bond villian enough, I'm pretty sure you didn't watch Quantum of Solace.
Nolan is amazing when he's doing somethinbg totally original. Film franchises are getting very boring.
The only way this will work is if they delay the production shoot to 2015 since Nolan is busy with Interstellar until the end of 2014. They said the most they'd delay the film's release to was 2016 so yeah it's just barely possible but only if they were really dead set on Nolan and didn't just instead go with someone else that could start sooner, which is always the preferred choice when making any movie, especially franchise sequels. Point is I really don't see this happening. Not for 24, but I'm sure Nolan will do a bond film some day. He's got a hard-on for bond films.
I actually haven't seen skyfall yet
Jesus... Skyfall is a mile better than Quantum of Wallace and imo superior to Casino Royale.
