Man Pays Traffic Fine with 137 Little $1 Origami Pigs
Everybody hates getting a ticket, so what better way to take the edge off than delivering payment in an inconvenient, quirky way? That'll really show those cops who's boss! That must have been what this guy was thinking when he folded 137 dollar bills into 137 origami pigs and brought them to a police station in a donut box. But the delivery didn't go that well, with the collection agent refusing to "sit there and unfold all these." After a pathetic argument—"But look at the pretty little piggies I made"—he was compelled to unfold all the pigs at the station by himself. He also admitted he lost track of time after 4 hours spent constructing the dollar pig army.
But somebody has to stick it to the man, right? Right?!
legal tender for pigs in pig form delivered in the pig's favorite boxed good.
I don't understand why he had to unfold them. She should have just taken them as payment. They are legal US tender, regardless of their shape.

They don't have to accept them, it's like paying with pennies, they can (and probably will) tell you to exchange them into bills.

Too bad, it's legal currency and it's your god damn job to collect it.
Worth a try and funny none the less.
Wow this guy's such a rebel, really sticking it to the man here. I thought it was really badass how he spent 4+ hours folding and unfolding his money

I'm not 100% on this but I remember seeing a video where a guy tried to pay for a tow-away with all pennies and when the cops showed up they said they were required to accept legal tender. It would make sense that they have to, otherwise the person at the window could just say things like "Oh, you paid with a twenty and a fifty - can't accept that".
Waste six hours of your life folding one dollar bills into pigs, yeah that'll show them, bet they were really hurting.
why does this make the man out to be some sort of mischievous rebel? not paying the ticket and going to court would fit that label better than this. this sounds like something i would do just to make it more interesting or fun, paying traffic tickets is fucking boring
Did anyone even watch the video?

He was being mean to the wrong guy with his planning, it's like getting punched by someone in the street, then later you go and punch a random person to get back at whoever punched you first. It's nonsense.
Everyone had a good laugh in the end though, and he didn't put up much of a fuss when they told him to unfold them either.
great pig massacre
I saw this on lmao pics a few days ago

This is false. They have to take them. If they refuse call the police and the police will enforce the law.
Folding the bills up I don't know if they have to take those. You can't tell that they are legal tender.
However, pennies? Yes they have to take them.
I feel so bad for him, that he had to unfold all of them, after they wouldn't accept them... :c
It's kind of hard to side with a dick
I enjoy that he was told to unfold them, and even let the cops take photos with their phones.

In the USA, maybe. In the UK anything over £10 must be paid in denominations of £1 or greater.
Too bad, it's legal currency and it's your god damn job to collect it.
they were going to them them when he unfolded all of them. unless you think a guy who had nothing to do with his ticket deserved to waste his time unfolding all the money pigs.

In Canada nobody is obliged to accept more than 50 cents in pennies for payment of something.

Whether or not he deserves it is irrelevant. It's his job. Do you think janitors enjoy cleaning up shit and puke? Of course not. They do it because they're getting paid to do it.

The guy went out of his way to make it difficult and be an asshole. The clerk should have refused to put up with that kind of shit.

Does not mean they have to put up with bullshit from punks who think they're funny. Have a little fucking respect for the guy doing the job, he was not the one that issued the ticket or created the fine. Why should he be picked on and made his job more difficult then it has to be. I'm sure he has other things he has to do besides play childish games with idiots.
If you got a issue, specifically with tickets we do have a thing call traffic court where you can fight it.
Also FYI, YES it is legal tender but there is no federal law saying a store/organization has to accept it. IE look at a lot of stores that say they don't accept any cash over 20 dollars. Technically speaking debts have to take whatever is offered, but he is paying a FINE. He does not owe anyone money, he just has to pay a fine, go to court, or sit it out in jail. It's really all about how you word stuff and write the contract.
Too bad, it's legal currency and it's your god damn job to collect it.
Until they were unfolded, the collector couldn't verify they were legal tender.
Thats what is great about working in a digital payment processing center. You send us a bunch of pennies? We'll send it back and not give a fuck what happens to you, we don't accept physical currency, period. And we have absolutely no obligation to process it for you.

Well if you ever get a job as a janitor, I'm going right to where you work and taking a shit on the floor.

I honestly doubt they cannot refuse to take certain types of money.
