Haha did this yesterday and today. Used the lettering off of On Letting Go as a reference for the name. Pretty happy with how it turned out: C&C pleeease :D EDIT: I do wallpaper for anyone interested :D
Looks pretty good, not sure what it is though.
Looks pretty good, not sure what it is though.
It's a heart yo. Spewing blood and guts... into music. Subliminal meanings are never fun :P
When I read the title I originally thought this was going to involve ants. Nice work, I like it. :3
First off, I want to commend you for your musical taste. It looks pretty good, but I think the blood coming out looks kinda thick and chunky and dark, kind of like chili ha. And second the transition from blood to musical staff happens to abruptly I think.
Gradient background! :O Oh no! The foreground of the image looks amazing, but the gradient just killed it for me. The music sheet that is coming out of the blood at the top right corner should've been slightly thicker at the top. Like, it should've been the width of the blood, or the blood shoud've been thinner. Either way, their line should've matched up so there would've been a more believable blend. The purple outerglow on the "stitching" should've had a blend mode of either Darken, or Multiply. At least in my opinion. Or you can just find some other way to make it look as if there's a slight indentation around the stitch points. Currently, it draws the viewer's attention straight to the purple stitching, before you see the text or even the rest of the image. TL;DR: If you seriously thought this, you must have A.D.D. Get rid of the outerglow on the stitching, or change it to a redder color. Gradient background is horrendous. Music Sheet and Blood width should be equal and match up.

And I agree, the transition does happen too fast.
Gradient background! :O Oh no! The foreground of the image looks amazing, but the gradient just killed it for me. I was tired, my hand hurt, and overall I was just done with the whole thing. Gradient was there just to fill in white space. Does it count if I made that gradient myself? Hahaha.... In conclusion: gradient does suck. Will fix in future. As for the "outerglow", that was all brushwork, no shitty blending options involved, all of this was brushwork. I wanted it to look like it was decaying flesh, like it had sat that way for a week or three becoming infected and dying. (I know this from personal experience when I had a scar like that on my leg and it turned the same color after about a week) Thanks for the in-depth review. Critiques taken. Oh, and I was just sitting at my dining room table and it came to me. No joke.
Blending options aren't always shitty, as they do have some purpose. Granted, you have to experiment with every setting in order to understand when to use them. For example, bevel&emboss has very little use and should only be used on some specific types of text. Color overlay + Outerglow is generally only used if you want to make a quick shadow that matches the object point to point. But you probably knew all of this. :} You are welcome for the "review" nonetheless.

It's a way for some inexperienced pos to go in and say, "I want a shadow without having to do a damn thing." They just piss me off, and I agree on the bevel & emboss. Same with stroke, dropshadow, etc. etc. I do my own blending options yo. (And sometimes they don't work haha)
