Michael Morones, 11, loves My Little Pony. This passion reportedly sparked relentless bullying from his classmates in Raleigh, N.C., and eventually led the boy to attempt suicide.
According to WTVD-TV, Morones is part of a growing group of males of all ages, dubbed "bronies," who watch the program My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic for its moral values and relatable characters.
The boy's family and friends are supportive of Morones's passion for the show, which focuses on empathy and respect, and encourage him to express himself as a brony. The 11-year-old's classmates evidently don't feel the same way.
Morones often came home with stories about being bullied non-stop by others who called the show "gay." The harassment allegedly reached a tragic climax when Morones tried to commit suicide by hanging himself. Thankfully, the boy's mother and stepfather found him in time, but not before the oxygen to his brain was cut off.
Well then.

Cutie Mark Crusaders Suicide Pact!
Please don't kill me.
11 years old is the correct age group for liking My Little Pony so this is bullying I can't get behind

It's the right age group, not exactly the right gender.
Aren't "bronies" adults that watch the show?
Bro stands for a male, not adult.
Plus I've seen little kids watch this stuff too, so it applies.
It's the right age group, not exactly the right gender.
One of two is better than zero of two.
Regardless of age group or gender or interests, bullies are complete assholes. I hope the school takes action against the bullies, unlike many.
I wouldn't count him as a brony. He is just a kid who likes the show.

You could get behind bullying if he was older?
Honestly I think its borderline if its the right age group depending on where you live. If I watched MLP when I was 11 I would've been made fun of by everyone in my school and well deserving of it.

Eh, who cares if boys, girls or that watch it, it's just some harmless cartoon.
ok
i usually dont give a shit about manchild fedora wearing max euphoria bronies, but this is literally a fucking 11 year old being bullied to the point of killing himself, tv show or not he should not have been treated that fiercely by other people.
Guys, enough about age groups and gender.
A kid almost died, and now has a severe condition from it. All because of some bullies at school.

god i felt so shitty when i read that his parents found him in time but not before oxygen to his brain was cut off
He is recovering, and the community raised $45,000 so as to help with medical costs and whatever else he might need on his road to recovery. Bullying is ugly and needs to stop, regardless of the reason why a person was bullied.
You could get behind bullying if he was older?
I was being facetious
If this was a 15/16 year old trying to commit suicide none of you would give a shit.

Says who?
What you're saying is awfully ambiguous and loaded.
Getting behind any bullying where it's to the point that someone wants to kill themselves is stupid.
I'd say any kind of bullying is sociopathic.

Even if Chris Chan committed suicide i'd probably still feel sorry for him.
Oh god

Relevant? I was somewhat surprised to see this after hearing so much about "love and friendship".

holy fuck, what a bunch of insensitive assholes.
I can't wait until people justify this as if people deserve such a fate because they like something you think they shouldn't.
Shame.
Although what can you expect? The bullies were only reacting naturally.
