When a pizza delivery arrives it’s warm and comforting and I eat so much because dang, it’s melted cheese on bread, and everyone feasts together in beautiful gluttonous harmony. But after we’re stuffed, walking the empty pizza box down four flights of stairs to the garbage just seems so hard, and so it sits on the kitchen counter for a day, maybe two, and then it gets propped up next to the recycling, and then I take out the recycling but the pizza box is all awkward and greasy so I just leave it. And after too long that delicious feast becomes embarrassing detritus that says “this place is inhabited by a puerile slob.” And that pizza is internet humor. No matter how much we enjoy them at first, all jokes mold, but damned if they don’t stick around anyway. Lolcats, rage comics, doge-speak, saying “my wife” like Borat, references to anything popularized on Newgrounds—it’s time to bag all that up and send it to the landfill. And I’d love for the phrase “PC Master Race” to join them. It’s the moldiest of all.
http://www.pcgamer.com/lets-stop-calling-ourselves-the-pc-master-race/ I'm a German and find this article [sp]reichdiculous.[/sp]
Once again, people confuse self-deprecating satire with being serious. Jeez.
the PC master race are dead
It's not really a race if we always come first.
I refuse
It's cringeworthy as fuck.
Platform elitism is so stupid, whichever platform it is that you're elitist about. Some people may be like 'PC is the best everything else sucks, here's a generic list of reasons why and why I'm better than you', but I mean if I read that all I would be thinking is 'dude do you have a life?' Like, you'd have to be so shallow and pathetic to actually have that elitism over something as trivial as stupid video games be a thing in your life.
If we don't lord ourselves over the console peasants, how will they know how much better we have it than them?
Once again, people confuse self-deprecating satire with being serious. Jeez.
The PC master-race will never stop being funny so long as people continue to take it as a serious boast.
Le never XDDDDDD. join us ebin übermenschen at /r/pcmasterrace)))))))))
We, here at Facepunch Master Race, don't tolerate this kind of behaviour.
What a shit article, even by SH standards.
*snip, didn't read that article completely before posting*
"oh no a meme is ruining my internet experience"
If we don't lord ourselves over the console peasants, how will they know how much better we have it than them?
This. They need to see how much better we are so they have an incentive to work hard and move up. It's called social mobility people, geez read a book once in a while.
Honestly I'm just sick of the people who take it seriously.
Some people find it annoying because it's old. It's like seeing people still posting Numa Numa or Nope.avi.
people posting numa numa would be a welcome change compared to fucking impact font caption bullshit
people posting numa numa would be a welcome change compared to fucking impact font caption bullshit
I wouldn't mind a return of All Your Base Are Belong To Us
Some people find it annoying because it's old. It's like seeing people still posting Numa Numa or Nope.avi.
You let them die out naturally, not go "lets stop doing X because it's old and rustles my jimmies"
Once again, people confuse self-deprecating satire with being serious. Jeez.
Did you even read the article? It's talking specifically about it as being a joke, one that has aged so much it's become unfunny and basically just shit (which it has). There's nothing in the article implying the author thought anyone ever used "PC Master Race" seriously (except a small minority).
"oh no a meme is ruining my internet experience"
Except there are some people who are 100% serious when they call themselves the master race. Though obviously it isn't very common at all, it is still something that happens
I think I have to agree, not because of the joke itself. The reason is because Poe's Law has hit the people who actually say PC Master Race like its a boast. The meaning of the joke has shifted from a slap to one's own face into a viagra pill for one's flaccid ego. Plus, its really fucking old.
Once again, people confuse self-deprecating satire with being serious. Jeez.
I expect nothing less of ze masta rhace
Did you even read the article? It's talking specifically about it as being a joke, one that has aged so much it's become unfunny and basically just shit (which it has). It’s fun to treat our hobby like a club and build camaraderie, but I don’t think a reference to white supremacy is going to encourage club membership
But once you get about halfway down it's just rambling about Nazis and white supremacy :v:
Once again, people confuse self-deprecating satire with being serious. Jeez.
thing is many people say ``pc master race'' as a serious thing
honestly im getting tired of it. As with most jokes on the internet, its become a le meme and every kid that owns a computer sprouts it 45/7
Most of my friends claim there part of the "PC MASTER RACE" but all they play is LoL and have NO IDEA what Steam is. I kid you not i want to slap the shit out of them.
PC Gamer confirmed filthy console peasants
It starts that way But once you get about halfway down it's just rambling about Nazis and white supremacy :v:
Regardless of how much people agree with the authors opinion that "Master Race" gives connotations to nazism, it's pretty clear that he understands that it is most often used satirically.
Memes die out on their own. Why is that so hard to grasp? Idiotic articles like this (similar to many posts in LMAO Pics thread) play no part in affecting the use/spread of a meme. If anything they draw attention to its existence and prolong its stay. What did PC Gamer thought this piece would actually accomplish?
