Donald Glover continues to score roles that bring cinematic icons into the 21st century as the Childish Gambino rapper will play Simba in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney's The Lion King. James Earl Jones will also reprise the role of Mufasa in the film, which will be directed by Jon Favreau. Like Favreau's remake of the The Jungle Book, the film will utilize CGI technology and green screen to transform the beloved 1994 animated movie into a live-action movie.
Live action reboot (à la The Jungle Book 2016 remake) of The Lion King, starring James Earl Jones and Donald Glover. So much hype I can barely contain myself. http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/news/donald-glover-cast-as-simba-in-live-action-the-lion-king-remake-w467782
God bless James Earl Jones. Everything he touches is gold.

This may actually turn out to be way better than I expected from this idea.
God bless James Earl Jones. Everything he touches is gold.
every post in this thread I'm imagining Jones saying out loud.
What's the point of a "live action" adaptation of a movie with no humans whatsoever?
how was that jungle book movie? i thot it looked neat but i never did see it
It was definitely the best of Disney's live-action remakes so far.
how was that jungle book movie? i thot it looked neat but i never did see it
fantastic. really enjoyable film
What's the point of a "live action" adaptation of a movie with no humans whatsoever?
They use real lions but give them gum to chew on so it looks like they're talking
What's the point of a "live action" adaptation of a movie with no humans whatsoever?
They might do it like how the play does (great play btw) where the the main characters wear clothing symbolic for the animal
Wouldn't a live action adaptation of the lion king be hamlet [editline]18th February 2017[/editline]
They might do it like how the play does (great play btw) where the the main characters wear clothing symbolic for the animal
They don't need cgi for that. Maybe the entire cast will actually be wearing cgi fursuits.
how was that jungle book movie? i thot it looked neat but i never did see it
nice but unnecesary
Disney is really intent on doing live action remakes of all their classic animated films, huh Skip, probably
Disney is really intent on doing live action remakes of all their classic animated films, huh Skip, probably
I think its their way of introducing the classics to a new generation, while giving the parents nostalgia and the "wow" factor of seeing the classic films updated. It's a smart move, but I'm not too fond of the live-action myself.
Childish Gambino as Simba? Sorta interested to see him pull off that role now :v: I'm sure there will be singing portions so he's a good pick for that.
I tried watching the new Jungle Book movie. It had no style.
Jungle Book was amazing, I can't wait for this. Also I think Reboot is a bad name, its more of a re-imagining/Retelling.
