I heard there was an N64 port planned that was never released.
On the one hand it's a shame that we never got to see how that'd turn out.
On the other hand, can you imagine a Hitman game without ragdoll physics? Eck!
"Continue" as a menu option is a modern convention. All you had in the PS1 days was "Load game" if you were lucky, "password" otherwise.
Feels kinda strange considering the first Hitman was released in 2000 and looked about a billion times better
It's more like "imagine if Hitman was made for consoles in 1998"

Honestly though this doesn't even look very good for a PS1 game. Metal Gear Solid and Spyro both came out in 1998, and Syphon Filter came out a year later. All of those look much better than this, especially the animation and character models.
Hitman more like Michelin Man :v:

Most attempted imitations of PS1-era stuff tend to overdo the shittiness rather than try to make the best-looking thing possible within the technical constraints of the era they're imitating.

I've noticed a lot of mock PS1 games turning up from people who don't really seem to understand the capabilities of the system -- they either make everything look too good or too shitty. It's been happening the last few months so I think it's Petscop imitation.
Somehow this one looks "too good" in that there's no texture warping of any kind, but too shitty in that Agent 47 looks like the Michelin Man, as Trekintosh said, and moves like he has severe arthritis. So I guess that's an achievement :v:
I'll give it this though; that case is badass. I'd pay money for that.
I'm upset that the guard didn't make over the top arm gestures while talking. Old PS1 cutscenes could make an Italian blush.
I like that it's inspired by Die Hard

I mean shit syphon filter was on PS1 and it looks crisp and pretty good.

honestly i wouldn't consider a game that has its skybox literally modeled to the game instead of being a illusion, good looking

I would love for an actual tech demo instead of a decent concept video.
A game jam where you demake a level or area of a game for the PS1 would be fun.

Not making promises here but i've been meaning to do just that kind of stuff... eventually, i learn/work pretty slowly.
Pretty cool to find out that there's at least some interest.

I'm pretty sure there are people interested in actually seeing it, finding a couple of people to actually make them would be the hard part, but even then, there would people interested in developing something like for either a challenge or that they're interested in it.
It would be neat to actually play something. Bonus points for actually getting something on a system. (But that'll never happen outside of my dreams.)

what do you even mean?

SH1 had one IIRC, not only that, but also a "auto-continue" setting

My mind was blown when I found that Syphon Filter was based on an improved version of Bubsy 3D's engine.
