A French doctor who treated Michael Schumacher after a skiing accident that nearly killed him has said the Formula One star may recover within three years. In his first public comments since the accident, Dr Jean-Francois Payen confirmed that Schumacher is out of a coma and has made "some progress", but said the driver faces a long road to recovery. "I have seen some progress but I would say give him time. It's like other patients, we are in a timescale that ranges from one year to three years, so it takes patience," Dr Payen said. Naturally I grew up loving Schumacher, and owe my love to racing and cars to him. I'm glad things are starting to look good for Schumacher and his family.
And I will always pronounce his name as "Shoe-maker"
i swear to god if anyone calls him shoemaker
I thought he came out of the coma a while ago. Still, good news, nevertheless.
I thought he came out of the coma a while ago. Still, good news, nevertheless.
Maybe you're right, but hearing from his doctor is still awesome.
This reminds me of a friend of mine who had a car accident this year, he was also in coma and his injuries were severe. Unfortunately when he woke up, he could not react in any way and his brain has permanent damage. I hope Schumacher recovers well.
still don't know who this guy is (User was banned for this post ("Why reply?" - Blazyd))
still don't know who this guy is
You have access to the greatest wealth of information that man has ever known, with the answer to questions like these at your very fingertips, and you'd rather take 10 seconds to shitpost about being uninformed rather than taking 5 seconds to inform yourself on google? They even mention who he is in the article. And even if you didn't read the article, you could use context clues in the OP's comments to deduce who he is. Either you're illiterate or just fucking lazy, I'm leaning toward the latter.
still don't know who this guy is
Either you are too young or you are living under a stone. +by reading OPs opinion you could already guess that he is either a MotoGP or F1 driver, but you probably just posted without reading anything
still don't know who this guy is
Aren't you too young to be on the facepunch forums then?
Its always great to hear that an influential character like him is recovering from something that could have killed him or worse.
Very good news. Now, let's hope Bianchi wakes up as well :(
i swear to god if anyone calls him shoemaker
It could be worse, it could be Joel.
My stepdad's oldest friend had an accident that caused pretty much the exact same injury, after a few years he's now walking and talking and while being different often shows sides of his former self. But he won't ever be able to work again.
Hopefully the brain damage wasn't too debilitating. I'm not expecting him to return to racing, but I'm beyond happy that he has retained some level of cognitive ability.
i swear to god if anyone calls him shoemaker

And I will always pronounce his name as "Shoe-maker"
the name derives from german or whatever for shoemaker so its not all that inaccurate
still don't know who this guy is

--the Formula One star [who] may recover within three--
So, even if you didn't know who Michael Schumacher was at the time of posting, you could have find out who he is by reading the first line of text in the telegraph quote up top.
luckily schumie never has to work again
People with insurance won't have to either, that's a non issue for most people. It's more of mental issue (how much it will frustrate people not being able to work again) than a monetary issue.
