A shaving scene in Skyfall has apparently caused a 405% increase in sales of cut-throat razors in the last five days.
During the scene, British actress Naomie Harris gives Daniel Craig's 007 a close shave using a cut-throat razor, whispering in his ear: "Sometimes the old ways are the best."

As well as experiencing the 405% increase in sales, online retailer The Shaving Shack has also seen a 123% increase in web traffic since the film was released in the UK on October 26, and traffic from internet searches for "cut-throat razor" and "straight razor" has soared by a staggering 735%.
Nick Gibbens, brand director of The Shaving Shack, said: "Bond fans have an emotional attachment to 007, they love his Aston Martin cars, Omega watches and dinner suits.
"So it comes as no surprise that they have jumped on his love for cut-throat razors.

"
He added: "Shaving with a cut-throat razor is certainly one of life's pleasures as it will give you the closest possible shave.
"But it does take time to master the technique and you'll certainly need a steady hand and plenty of practice."

Well, it is stylish
2 weeks later:
Facial injuries up by 187%.
Its a good thing sales went up for this, and not when Sweeney Todd was in cinemas.
Stylish as fuck, too bad nobody offers it anymore. Apparently qualifying/certifying for it is different than a normal barber in the U.S. so almost nobody does it. I asked my usual barber about it a few weeks ago since I was curious and he told me that I was the second person to ask in his 9 years of operation ( :v: ). Only place he knew that did it was waaaay over in the state capital.
I'm too impatient to shave myself with that.
Would probably end up slicing my throat by accident.
[SP]And now some of you fuckers are thinking of giving me one[/SP]
I guess they want their beards "shaven, not trimmed."
*unfunny can laughter*

strange, I know at least two barbershops that still give them. Imo, if they can't give a straight-razor shave, they're not even a real barber. Hell, the one I sometimes go to will use a straight to shave off the hairs of the back of my neck when I'm getting a haircut.
I do know that varies by state as well, some are completely prohibited from even using them.
After seeing Sweeney Todd and Drive, I have the biggest phobia ever of straight razors. So no thank you
Straight razors are unfairly portrayed in films (except in this case)
I watched it today, and when he pulled that out he looked as classy as fuck.
[sp]Sales of cyanide pills reportedly diminished after they were shown to be unreliable.[/sp]
Always wanted to get one (use an electric for every day use, but for parties/formal events/whatever), however scared shitless of nicking my artery or something (throat is fine, I'll keep a bit of duct tape in the unlikely case I make a small cut into the throat, but the artery? Oh shit).
Havent there been cases when the razor slipped out of a persons hand, and cut their throat.. killing them.

I think the percentage should be higher. I wonder if the statisticians accidentally slashed that figure by a half.
I didn't even know Skyfall was out yet. Is it any good?
I'm going to watch it regardless because Daniel Craig's Bond is the shit. I just hope it isn't as terrible as Quantum of Solace.
I've been shaving with a straight razor recently (though with disposable blades), and while it requires a bit of bloody practice I must say it gets you a really really close shave. It's also fucking cheap compared to multi-blade cartridge razors.

If you want to try it for cheap, buy this shavette and a small pack of blades (they're inexpensive).

It's really good, at least as good as Casino Royale.

Fuck yeah. That's all I needed to hear.

Alot of places still offer old school shit like straight razor shaves, hot towels, and shoe shines. Stop going to Great Clips

Pun intended?
Pun intended?
More like a literal description actually :v: When learning to use a straight razor it's practically mandatory to accidentally nicking yourself a few times. One bleeds quite a lot from cuts in the face because of the blood vessel density, but they also heal quickly for the same reason.

That's just Gillette & friends.
a few of the cheaper & practically unknown brands actually make some that are great value compared to what you pay.
Personally I'm currently using Derby Samurai 3, which costs close to a tenth of Gillette equivalent, although they're a little more "aggressive" that Gillette's, so they're definitely not for beginners.
would never use one those cut off my face with that thing
I've been using a 'safety razor' for a few years now. Its up there for the best purchases I've ever made award. Straight edge razors are great, but safety razors are in the good enough category, and you don't need to be nearly as careful.
Replacement blades are easy. Go to the hardware store and pick up a pack of 100 razor blades for a couple of bucks. Repeat about once a year.
Electric ones are alright, but they don't get nearly as close, and have problems in tight spots around your nose.
Disposable razors are fucking retarded. Low quality blades. They jam because of multiple blades. You can't get into the tight spots. They rust out fast because you can never get them truly clean (if you don't shave daily), and you can't cut off longer hair, once again because of the blades being packed together and jamming.
I have been using a straight razor for a couple years now, not influenced by this movie though. My grandfather taught me how to use one, it is very easy but you shouldn't do it if you are jumpy or have parkinsons.
No sideways movements and you will never cut yourself.

hold down the shift key while shaving
gotcha

Press f8 to toggle orthogonal mode.
Plebs not even knowing their hotkeys these days.
I have tics occasionally and I'm paranoid that I would twitch while having one of those at my throat, so I'll stick with my shitty disposable ones :v:
I use an electric one because it's the 21st century.
