A bagged salad mix is being investigated as a source of the cyclospora stomach bug outbreak that has caused hundreds of cases of diarrhea. As of July 29, 372 people have developed a cyclospora infection, or cyclosporiasis, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Tuesday. Cases have been found in at least 16 states: Iowa, Texas, Nebraska, Florida, Wisconsin, Illinois, Georgia, Missouri, Arkansas, Connecticut, Kansas, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, and Ohio.
Source; http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-204_162-57596205/bagged-salad-eyed-as-source-of-cyclospora-outbreak/&catid=57596205 CDC map/current infected numbers; www.cdc.gov/parasites/cyclosporiasis/outbreaks/investigation-2013-maps.html Posting mainly because i possibly have it, however its rarely in the US, so rarely that i cant find a doctor that knows what to do about it
i get diarrhea every time i eat bagged salad so what's the difference?
i get diarrhea every time i eat bagged salad so what's the difference?
The difference is, this diarrhea doesnt stop until its been treated with a certain kind of antibiotic. Some cases, people have nothing but diarrhea for up to 2 months before being treated
This is why I'm a cannibal. Edit: Carnivore
"Eat your greens!" they said. "It will be healthy!" they said.
I wouldn't exactly call 400 cases out of 320 million people an 'outbreak'. But it is cause for concern and should be dealt with now, before it does become an outbreak.
Well if salad is the cause then 99% of americans should be safe.

[editline]1st August 2013[/editline]
Well if salad is the cause then 99% of americans should be safe.
BECAUSE AMERICANS ONLY EAT MEAT AND THATS WHY THEYRE FAT RIGHT? HAHAHAHA WHAT A GOOD JOKE
BECAUSE AMERICANS ONLY EAT MEAT AND THATS WHY THEYRE FAT RIGHT? HAHAHAHA WHAT A GOOD JOKE
Thanks it took me a while to come up with it.
Well if salad is the cause then 99% of americans should be safe.
we are fucked if the disease makes it into our mcdonald's supply.

The reason is, it takes quite a while dealing with doctors before you can even get a test for a cyclospora infection. Ive had diarrhea for about two months now, i first saw a doctor 5 weeks ago. They referred me to a GI specialist, i made an appointment, etc. Went in, they did nothing that appointment. The next week, went in, had an endoscopy and colonoscopy, along with blood tests done and stool tests. That was two weeks ago, they found nothing in any of the tests, they just gave me antibiotics, probiotics, and sent me on my way. Unfortunately, the antibiotics they gave me arent the kind thatd work for cyclospora if i do have it, so im still dealing with doctors appointments after this long
Good thing I hate salads.
Well if salad is the cause then 99% of americans should be safe.
haha man such an original joke!!!
"Eat your greens!" they said. "It will be healthy!" they said.
you joke but w/ how you eat im surprised you're alive
those salad baggers are in deep shit now
You may joke, but in a less developed society this would be massively fatal and tragic incident, all due to what we now affectionately call 'the hershey squirts'.
this suddenly explains a lot
I'm paranoid because I have diarrhea. However, I don't eat salad.
Well if salad is the cause then 99% of americans should be safe.
I'm pretty sure Americans eat salad. They just eat it with a lot of other shit.
I'm pretty sure Americans eat salad. They just eat it with a lot of other shit.
By definition a salad is vegetables with other shit, dressing at the bare minimum
