When I was a kid, I thought cars are powered by smoke that comes from the exhaust pipes and that you had to be really strong to turn a steering wheel. I also thought that if a car had lots of add-on body parts and cool rims, it would go really fast. :v:
Post your
i remember thinking that the cars wheels didnt spin, that the road was just a really big conveyor belt and that the cars just got pulled along it v:v:v
I used to think that to get on the highway, cars would have to drive up the retaining walls
i didn't know anything about the pedals and thought that cars just moved around on their own.
I used to think the amount of exhausts corresponded to the amount of engines the car had. I saw a Ferrari with four exhausts so i figured it had four engines.
I thought locking the doors would make it safer in a crash.
I thought where you positioned your hands effected how fast the car would turn.
I thought some type of gas(think science) was put into the tank when you went to gas stations, not a liquid.
I thought cars could teleport, but they only did it when I was asleep.

Sneaky bastards.
I thought you had to shake the wheel back and forth slightly to go straight.. turns out its just the vibrations of the road.
I thought learning a clutch wouldn't be difficult v:v:v

It isn't
Oh and I thought the numbers on the license plate had something to do with the amount of horsepower the car had.
And I also thought that if a car had nice (think shiny chrome) rims that it was a good car. It could be a dirty worn down Datsun with chrome rims and I'd praise it, but when my dad and I walked by some sports car with alloy wheels I'd just go "meh".

this x1000
i remember i used to think that if you were going the right speed and you opened all of the doors to the car, you could take off like an aeroplane

it made sense at the time, ok

When I was 12, I went on a road trip with my buddy and his mom was driving their Ford taurus wagon. It had the sideways seats in the back that faced a weird direction and that's where we sat and put the luggage in the front. I asked him if it would take a long time to get there, and he said "It's ok, this car has cruise control" or something like that, and from that instant, I thought that cruise control was like auto-pilot and it would drive the car for his mom and turn it for her and go really fast. He assumed that's what it was too when I asked him what it was.
When I was 4 (I actually remember this) I thought that every car was powered by it's rear wheels and I wtf'd alot when a fwd car spun on our gravel driveway
I never had any funny thoughts about cars, I just thought cars had 4wd and assumed all the wheels spun at same speed.
Screw you, imagination! :arghfist::mad:

Yeah I always thought all cars were rear wheel drive and when I learned they weren't it was like this

I also thought car doors wouldn't open if they were locked while driving. I was in the passenger side back seat and tested this theory just as we were taking a long sweeping left turn. Theory proven wrong.
Thought all cars were rear wheel drive.
Also thought you could make a car go faster if you pressed the right buttons on the radio.

And that Cruise Control was Auto-Pilot.

some guy in the 80's thought that, then he sued the mobile home manufacturing company when he got up to get some coffee, expecting the vehicle to drive itself. he won, because the user manual was worded really badly.

moral of the story, cruise control is the spawn of the devil

You know what my cruise control is? A pully that I have hooked up to my accelerator.
my cruise control is a steady leg from 12 years driving
I thought that there must have been some sort of autopilot keeping the car in lane, because nobody would be able to steer so smoothly.
I thought that when cars had NOS, it was the power of the blue/green/pink flames that pushed the car fowards, from watching 2F2F
I used to think that cars were faster than airliners. Until I flew on one. But looking up, they look so slow when your four.
I thought that when cars had NOS, it was the power of the blue/green/pink flames that pushed the car fowards, from watching 2F2F
I thought NOS was jet fuel burnt in the exhaust or something
wait, what is a car?

I used to thought activating this switch will make your car fly.

Oh, this too, I though they were rockets.
And for some reason I thought all Police Cars had turbo and nos.

To catch the bad guys of course.
I thought when my mom and dad bought a new car and the rear windows were deactivated (couldn't open) they had to call the car manufacturer before they build the car to disable opening rear windows.
Anybody here see Mad Max? With the Ford Falcon interceptor? Yea, well my dad let me watch that when I was about 9. I had just heard something about NOS, and of course when the scene comes up when he "turns on" the blower and goes faster it gave me the idea that that's how nitrous worked. I felt so stupid when I found out what a supercharger was.
