Anyone else really like this sorta music? Heartlessly stole the name from Datsik's Mellow Step EP, few examples below.

Pretty difficult to find similar stuff, if you've got any let me know.
You call that a mellow tune?
THIS is a mellow tune.

I'm going to be honest, I don't think you could really call that kids remix a proper remix in the sense that he meant it. He took the original song without the drums, changed the drum beat to THE stereotypical dubstep beat, put them agressively high in the mix and then messed around with filters every section change. There was some things added over the top, but they weren't exactly missing from the song in the first place.
As for mellow... It was dubstep without the bass. Not mellow. If you're talking about what I think you're trying to talk about, try this. I haven't heard it called mellowstep, but chillstep.

This just seems like dnb that is a bit more slowed down.

what? you mean dubstep?
Dumb dumb dumb dumb, and dumb. Why? Dubstep started out as a dark deep bass n space driven genre. Then the aggro sound eventually came around, and no one changed the name. Now this crap, and you are trying to call it mellow step? Bullshit. Do you even look at the name's of genres? If you are calling this "Mellow-step" why would you also call the aggressive stuff "DUB" step. Call it all one thing or make a name for everything.
You may think this rant is dumb but one day will will have people calling The beatles metal, or something ridiculous. (exactly how I see this)
Also, if you have a hard time finding relaxing or melodic dubstep, you need to just give up.

Generally you're going to have a hard time finding good mellow dubstep, just because no one wants to do it. However, there is a current scene in the uk going by the name Future Garage, which is basically just more evolved sounding 2-step garage, and a lot of it is "mellow"

Imo it's infinitely times better than these piss poor remixes by datsik, but to each their own. If you like the stuff I'd recommend following the subreddit or even the FutureGarageForum.
