The Day the Earth Stood Still The Blob War of The Worlds Star Trek (Okay, that was fucking epic) Captain America The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 Alien Dawn Of The Dead Friday The 13th Haloween I am Legend Invasion Of The Body Snatchers And the list forever goes on. All these films have been remade or are currently being remade. Now correct me if I'm wrong the only reason a film should be remade is if it no longer works with a current audience. Okay that's understandable but 95% of the time the remake has butchered the original material beyond recognition. Compare the original Invasion Of The Body Snatchers to the more recent version. It's not even the same movie any more. It has a few similarities but other than that the films have nothing to relate each other to it. The film would be more successful if it just gave itself an original name. A remake should be a REMAKE. It should have the exact same plot. Exact same characters. Exact same scenes. Just re shot, re edited and ever so slightly re scripted to work for today's audience. It should be an alternative for newer generations as some people really don't like old movies. But 95% of remakes seem more like half hearted sequels. So Hollywood I beg you. Next time you think about slapping "remake" on a movie title. Think. Would it be better to release it as a sequel? As a new film franchise? Because it probably is nothing like the original. Better. Don't release it at all and stop encouraging people to see the remake and not the original.
I think because of this thread there will never be a remake.
I'm wondering if Halloween 2 will be good.
don't watch them if you don't like remakes
I've never understood why they name sequels the exact same (Or almost) as the originals, it doesn't make any sense.
We are not Hollywood, Do not address us as such.

The Omen pissed me off.
an alien remake! :aaaaa:
I would be more glad if Hollywood just stopped making movies. They just make OKAY stuff nowadays because everything follows all standards for a normal good movie. Hardly anything that goes outside the box they've made about how to make a movie. Sure, some good movies here and there, but generally, ugh. It's like EA. Or more correctly EA is like Hollywood. And Star Trekt movie... Ugh... Special effects showoff and terribly generic.
but rambo wasn't a remake and it was an amazing movie
an alien remake! :aaaaa:
Most retarded thing I ever read considering they are still pumping out sequels. Hello money. [editline]12:10AM[/editline]
but rambo wasn't a remake and it was an amazing movie
Which why it wasn't on the list. But I used it to mention how retarded sequel names are
I like some of the remakes. I'm not too sure where I stand in this debate.
They're remaking Alien? Oh, and Star Trek XI wasn't a remake, it was a continuation/reboot.
And why is he directing this towards us?
And why is he directing this towards us?
I'm not. I'm writing it in a format that I would write if addressing Hollywood. Easy way to write it really [editline]12:14AM[/editline]
They're remaking Alien? Oh, and Star Trek XI wasn't a remake, it was a continuation/reboot.
Yeah but it depends what side of the Star Trek community you are on. Some prefer to call it a remake. Most (including myself) call it a continuation and rebirth of a dead franchise How cute I got rated gaybow. xx ;)
Dawn of the dead was good...
It wasn't scary. As Romero said "Zombies running at me isn't scary"
Don't forget The Crow sequals and TV show. I liked the original.
Star Trek was awesome, but wasn't really a direct remake. The only film I would like to see a remake of is The War of the Worlds; a film directly based on the book or musical would be awesome.
I'm going to do a remake of this thread but I'll change the ending so you die. [editline]12:19AM[/editline] Alien isn't being remade. [editline]12:19AM[/editline] Alien isn't being remade.
Wait, what? They're remaking Alien? Why the fuck would you want to remake Alien? It looks like a modern film, if you ignore the shitty computers. The mechanical alien looks better than most modern CGI! What the fuck would remaking it do? It's not like it looks shit now, it still looks awesome! GAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I HATE YOU FOX I FUCKING HATE YOU AND WANT YOU ALL TO DIE GAAAAAAAAH!
It wasn't scary. As Romero said "Zombies running at me isn't scary"
But shuffling in a helpless manner is? Maybe it's just me that finds strong fast creepy looking things yelling at me and screaming scarier than something that can't move faster than lump the dog.

Star Trek wasn't really a remake. And I particularly hate remakes of foreign language films like Quarantine. If the audience is too retarded to read then they don't deserve to see the film.
But shuffling in a helpless manner is? Maybe it's just me that finds strong fast creepy looking things yelling at me and screaming scarier than something that can't move faster than lump the dog.
I think the idea is that these things are relentlessly following you. You know if they catch you then you will have an excrutiatingly slow death but they are everywhere so all you can do is hide.
Isn't this thread a remake?
It wasn't scary. As Romero said "Zombies running at me isn't scary"
Slow easy targets are boring. I always wondered how no one can stop shambling hordes.
Punisher
Dawn of the Dead was good though, as are a few of those.
Only remake I've liked is Funny Games
