I never really got anything out of found footage videos like this and the slenderman marble hornets junk, it's way to over-edited, makes the little inconsistencies stand out too hard, as did the deliberate pacing of the plot

it's the "uncanny valley" of spookiness
if it tries too hard it'll just end up looking silly, like with the video's constant reroutes, going off-road, turning off the headlights, etc.
the really terrifying internet stories are the ones that are 99% realistic and believable, but that unsettling 1% always hidden in the corner of your eye

• crystal clear iphone voice audio on shitty copy-of-copy-of-magnetically-damaged-VHS-footage
• GPS route starts at this random point on a road beneath a bridge, just in time for the recording to start
• blatant off-beat GPS remarks like 'turn off headlights' really ruined the 'immersion' factor of using the iphone GPS. However the 'destination in 300 feet/make a u-turn/destination in 250 feet/make a u-turn/' getting closer and closer when it was chasing was a good gimmick
• gullible twart; no premise for why he started the journey nor why he'd think it's OK to keep trudging forward
