[release]January 15, 2012, 9:18 PM Huntsman Says He’s Quitting G.O.P. Race By JEFF ZELENY CHARLESTON, S.C. — Jon M. Huntsman Jr. informed his advisers on Sunday that he intends to drop out of the Republican presidential race, ending his candidacy a week before he had hoped to revive his campaign in the South Carolina primary. Mr. Huntsman, who had struggled to live up to the soaring expectations of his candidacy, made plans to make an announcement as early as Monday. He had been set to participate in an evening debate in Myrtle Beach. A third-place finish in the New Hampshire primary last week failed to jump start his flagging candidacy, aides said, and his campaign limped into South Carolina with little money. Mr. Huntsman has spent days pondering his future in the race, but aides said that he concluded he was unlikely to topple Mitt Romney or match the momentum of his Republican rivals in the conservative Southern primary. Mr. Huntsman will endorse Mr. Romney’s bid for the Republican nomination this week, according to several people who spoke on condition of anonymity.[/release] Only one thing left... wait why the fuck would he endorse mitt romney? the dude is a fucking robot who changes his mind every second
how troublesome, he isn't as crazy as the others
Damn...
Can't say I agreed with a lot of what he said, but he did seem the most reasonable. Shame to see him go, especially with the reason being he didn't think his more moderate positions wouldn't fly in South Carolina.
Can't say I didn't see this coming. His performance was lackluster at best. Still, it is upsetting to see practically the only SANE candidate leave the race.
watch as the only ones left are taken out, leaving Obama as the only candidate by some insane magical fluke... flawless victory.
He dropped it because Colbert beat him.
Well darn. If there was anyone I wanted to win in the GOP it was huntsman.

Welp, no more semi-decent candidates left now, no use in voting Republican now.
I kinda saw him as a ~2000 McCain. So much for that. Here's to Colberts candidacy.
I think we should try to get Ron Paul the nomination. Obama will win, but at least with Ron Paul he'l be able to give him a wake-up call through debates.
I think we should try to get Ron Paul the nomination. Obama will win, but at least with Ron Paul he'l be able to give him a wake-up call through debates.
No, Ron Paul has some pretty terrible views. Plan B should be to try and get the stupidest candidate they have so Obama has an easy win.
Haha fuck, he was the only good one. Oh well, he never had a chance anyway
No, Ron Paul has some pretty terrible views. Plan B should be to try and get the stupidest candidate they have so Obama has an easy win.
So... Ron Paul, then?
Look, just elect Obama again. He might not be the best candidate, but he's better than these raving maniacs. Besides, most of the reason that he didn't get all that he promised in is because Congress is a giant republican cock-blocking machine.
No, Ron Paul has some pretty terrible views. Plan B should be to try and get the stupidest candidate they have so Obama has an easy win.
Ron Paul has a legitimate standpoint minus the racist stuff. Just because he's on the opposite end of the spectrum doesn't mean he's an idiot as you guys love to make him out to be. And if you're all too stupid to notice the reason Ron Paul is going all social conservative this year is because he's trying to EXCITE THE BASE. Look at his fucking voting record, he's never voted for any of that bullshit.
So the only ones left are: Mitt Romney - Nope nope nope nope nope Ron Paul - Some policies of his are good, otherwise terrible candidate Rick Perry - Word is that he might drop out of the race, but otherwise he's not good at all Newt Gingrich - He's not rich, take his word for it. He's a moron, take MY word for it! Rick Santorum - My god, I think it was the Iowa Caucus that he had most attention for, and jesus he's literally retarded. GG Republican Party. Gary Johnson for President, otherwise Barack '12. Disclaimer - The opinions shared above are the property of go-fuck-yourself incorporated
Bummer, but totally expected.
I really hope Perry follows his example.
And if you're all too stupid to notice the reason Ron Paul is going all social conservative this year is because he's trying to EXCITE THE BASE.
k we're obviously all too stupid if we know that Ron Paul has had a pro-life and anti-gay marriage congressional record
most of the reason that he didn't get all that he promised in is because Congress is a giant republican cock-blocking machine.
no it isn't, you're a giant tool, enjoy being ruled by corporations & Big Brother it is insanity to support any pro-war candidate -- even a moderate like Obama
No, Ron Paul has some pretty terrible views. Plan B should be to try and get the stupidest candidate they have so Obama has an easy win.
Out of curiosity, why don't you like Paul?
k we're obviously all too stupid if we know that Ron Paul has had a pro-life and anti-gay marriage congressional record
dr. paul ending unnecessary wars and fixing the nation's debt crisis > crying about dr. paul allowing states to decide on gay marriage and abortion
Out of curiosity, why don't you like Paul?
Among other things, he's a pro-laissez-faire and he wants to take us out of the UN.
dr. paul ending unnecessary wars and fixing the nation's debt crisis > crying about dr. paul allowing states to decide on gay marriage and abortion
"dr. paul" isn't going to end shit. and you're not going to solve the nation's debt crisis by cutting social programs and opening your bum for corporations.
dr. paul ending unnecessary wars and fixing the nation's debt crisis > crying about dr. paul allowing states to decide on gay marriage and abortion
"I'm not gay or a woman so those concerns don't count" Ending wars is cool, I can get behind that. But his plan for fixing the economy is demonstrably terrible and it's implementation would leave America more open to the exact same crash that occurred in 2008.
and you're not going to solve the nation's debt crisis by cutting social programs and opening your bum for corporations.
really? okay, so what will solve the nation's debt crisis? because whatever the fuck is being done right now isn't helping
"I'm not gay or a woman so those concerns don't count"
i have sex pretty often, i certainly wouldn't want abortion to become illegal. letting the states deal with it sounds far better to me than preaching for a non-existent candidate who will make abortion legal nation-wide
Ending wars is cool, I can get behind that.
ending wars is "cool" ? that sounds like something you would say to his drug policies, not ending a fucking war ??
But his plan for fixing the economy is demonstrably terrible and it's implementation would leave America more open to the exact same crash that occurred in 2008.
right . good thing the current plan for fixing the economy is working well
"dr. paul" isn't going to end shit. and you're not going to solve the nation's debt crisis by cutting social programs and opening your bum for corporations.
The reason we're in this situation isn't because of laissez-faire economics, it's because the corporations have their hands in law makers pockets. We'd be better off with laissez faire economics than we are now.
