• Anti conspiracy theorists are worse than theorists or why we need the photos released.

Has anybody else noticed this? Go into just about any thread concerning Bin Laden's death where we're arguing that the photos should be released. I can almost guarantee you that at least one time somebody said something to the effect of
Who cares if it gets released, all those stupid theorists are gonna just call it fake once it comes out anyway
Well, no, not exactly. If the image gets released, some people WILL call it fake based on instinct. Most of those people probably also watch Fox 24\7 and have their walls covered in life size posters of Glenn Beck fucking Alex Jones. But guess what, NOT ALL CONSPIRACY THEORISTS BLINDY FOLLOW MAINSTREAM MEDIA OPINIONS So what would REALLY most likely happen if they're released aside from the "radical" theorists making claims that it's a fake? Well, it would probably be looked at by people who actually spend time to determine the authenticity of it, if they DO find that it's a fake, they'll come up with EVIDENCE to support that. If they don't come up with evidence, chances are they're talking out of their ass and should be ignored. So now you might be asking, WHY is releasing the photos important? Well, picture this. Your dad is in the squad that confronted Bin Laden, and you got a report that he died a heroic death trying to save some little girl being assraped by a donkey trained by the taliban or something when he took a bullet fired by Bin Laden to save the girl. Well that's nice, at least you know that he's dead. Oh, but did we mention that you're part of a Muslim family? You guys aren't actually practicing muslims, so you don't worship islam or recognize Islamic tradition, but the government wants to bury your dad the way that the Islamic people do as an honor to his memory. Well, that's nice, but wouldn't you ALSO like to confirm that it IS in fact your dad's body and not somebody else? After all, he was shot in the head, you should be able to at least make sure that your dad is dead and they didn't make a mistake, right? No. They dump the body into the ocean and all the news stations are reporting about how heroic he is and how he's going to win the purple turd medal (If you're in the armed forced, I apologize, I'm not trying to offend anybody with that). So everybody is happy and your dad is now a (dead) war hero. But wait, you never saw ANYTHING having to do with his death, and to top it off he's served for over 10 years, so you rarely even got to see him because of how often he's deployed. Now let's look at Osama in that same situation. We don't have any confirmation that it's him aside from the military saying "Yep, it's him. We just dumped him in the ocean, but don't worry we got a good look at him! We even tested his DNA!" Well that's nice, but wouldn't it make sense to just get a second opinion on that DNA test just to be 100% sure? I mean it isn't like the body is going anywhere. What's this? They weren't joking about the body dumping? They ACTUALLY dumped the body into the water WITHIN 12 HOURS OF CONFIRMING THE KILL. Well, no worries, I mean we're shorted the DNA test, but let's be honest, it probably wouldn't make a difference. After all, we can all just see the picture of him dead, right? Well, about that. No. You can't. Because it's too bloody for the public.

The trouble with conspiracy theorists is that they don't treat them as theories. I'm not talking about this instance here, I mean I agree it's all a bit fishy. But they go on and on as if what they're saying is utter truth, they're up there with evangelists.
Or the terrorists will take one look at the picture of their leader with one thousand bullet holes in him and run outside and blow up a bus
he died a heroic death trying to save some little girl being assraped by a donkey trained by the taliban or something
What Also what does most of this post have to do with conspiracy theorists I mean are there conspiracy theorists that won't call the photo fake? Because if they did they wouldn't be conspiracy theorists
Conspiracy theorists are mostly harmless anyway, there is a great amount of them and yet they very rarely turn violent (unless they have a more serious mental disorder). Who cares really
You can't. Because it's too bloody for the public.
That's not the reason they are reluctant to release it.

This is about how people who dismiss any argument presented because it's contradictory to what the government says are getting worse than the people who are actually making the claims.

they dont wanna release it until they are done photoshopping it and i'll tell, cause i've seen quite a few pixels in my time
I love Facepunch. I get more intelligent by reading the OP and making sure not to follow his example.
I love Facepunch. I get more intelligent by reading the OP and making sure not to follow his example.
Yes, let's all be ignorant and never research anything ourselves. It really isn't so crazy to just want the picture. I'm not accusing the government of doing anything but neglecting to release the pictures at this point and I'm being treated like I'm saying they're housing elvis because apparently any form of questioning the government is crazy. You guys sit there and bitch about how fucked up it is for countries like North Korea to be ruled by a government that keeps them completely in the dark and then ignore the fact that WE might be being left in the dark.
Yes, and all but the first paragraph was about why the photo should be released
Did you finish reading the title? "Anti conspiracy theorists are worse than theorists or why we need the photos released." I'm putting two topics in one thread because they're relative to each other in the sense that I was hoping once people realized that not every conspiracy believer worships the likes of Alex Jones people would look at the photo situation and see that even though there's no need to overthrow the government in complete anarchy, something is fishy and should be investigated. The absolute worst case scenario if you guys are right is that we just confirm Osama is dead, so what's the problem?
or perhaps the conspiracy theorists' ideas are so retarded that any sane person would dismiss them as soon as they saw them
I'm a conspiracy theorist (don't care about labels or buzzwords) and I've already seen two photoshops that I thought were real at the time. Upon seeing them and before someone proving beyond a doubt that they were fake, I was ready to vote for Obama. (assuming ron paul doesn't win the primaries, which he absolutely will not) Now that the white house has said they aren't releasing the photos, I'll vote for whoever wins the GOP primaries, EVEN IF IT'S TRUMP, just to vote against Obama. If they ultimately decide to release them before the election, I will still vote for him. Many people across the conspiracy theorist communities share this opinion and I'm sure plenty of unspoken Americans feel this way as well. Releasing the photos would not cause any more terrorism than just killing the guy would, and also you guys who think terrorists bomb shit because they "hate our freedoms" or something are hilarious, they attacked the financial and business headquarters of america as an attack on america's businesses that have subjugated and exploited people in the middle east for decades. Not trying to justify them, just hate the way people talk about terrorists like cartoon/video-game characters. edit: also OP your analogy re: my dad bin laden came off a little weird but I get what you're saying. double edit: also not all conspiracy theorists are unreasonable, I used to think that 9/11 was an inside job until a user on this very forum proved to me otherwise. (thanks, Sgt Doom!)
you're fucking retarded
You're right although since I typed it in all caps I'm probably just internet mad and would actually just not vote at all in that situation.
I think the bin Laden stuff is a lot more widespread than other theories, it's the first time I know people in real life who believe it, and I do believe a photo release would help
or perhaps the conspiracy theorists' ideas are so retarded that any sane person would dismiss them as soon as they saw them
The only idea that's been presented by me so far is that they're holding onto the photo for undiscovered reasons. Releasing the photo would dismiss that. I'm still being treated the same as the guy that thinks that Bush personally put C4 in the WTC.
Well it's got to be real if they're hiding it so much
I'd appreciate seeing the photographs, while I doubt there's any conspiracy going on (all the changes in the story are probably due to good old government incompetence) but there's no real reason for them not to release them and put at least some of the doubters to rest.
Now that the white house has said they aren't releasing the photos, I'll vote for whoever wins the GOP primaries, EVEN IF IT'S TRUMP, just to vote against Obama.
you're fucking retarded
Or the terrorists will take one look at the picture of their leader with one thousand bullet holes in him and run outside and blow up a bus
I really doubt it. Now I'm not really one for conspiracies but all this Bin Laden stuff sounds a bit strange.
do you really think that if america had faked this whole thing and bin laden isn't actually dead that they would NOT have a picture ready and prepared to release to the public to shut up the theorists and their stupid theories
do you really think that if america had faked this whole thing and bin laden isn't actually dead that they would NOT have a picture ready and prepared to release to the public to shut up the theorists and their stupid theories
So if he really is dead, what's the harm in releasing the photo(s) they supposedly have? Again, I'm going to reiterate that there is absolutely no actual proof to this aside from the governments word.
do you really think that if america had faked this whole thing and bin laden isn't actually dead that they would NOT have a picture ready and prepared to release to the public to shut up the theorists and their stupid theories
good point, although check this out >release longform birth certificate >'we don't have time for this kind of silliness' >everyone (on fox) is still apeshit cause they're payed big money to be that way >don't even have to release pictures 'cause we already proved how unreasonable anyone who has ever doubted the US government on any issue in the slightest is.
So if he really is dead, what's the harm in releasing the photo(s) they supposedly have? Again, I'm going to reiterate that there is absolutely no actual proof to this aside from the governments word.
Bin laden is dead and I'm sure that there's a good reason that they're not releasing the photos. Well, I say "good", there's probably a reason that's good for them at least. There's honestly no doubt in my mind that bin laden is dead, the white house has a reason why they're not releasing the photos, we just don't know yet. They'll come out eventually.
Bin laden is dead and I'm sure that there's a good reason that they're not releasing the photos. Well, I say "good", there's probably a reason that's good for them at least. You know, I know another country that does shit pretty similar to that. It's called North Korea.
I don't need to see a gory-as-fuck picture thank you very much. If they could get some third party to confirm that he's dead, that would be enough for me, and that's what they're likely to do. Also, comparing america to north korea over a fucking photograph? I reiterate my point that you are retarded
You guys sit there and bitch about how fucked up it is for countries like North Korea to be ruled by a government that keeps them completely in the dark and then ignore the fact that WE might be being left in the dark.
To compare to North Korea, they are in the dark 1000 times more than you. Stop being paranoid.

They could have gotten a third party to do something before they dumped the fucking body into the ocean within 12 hours of the kill. And how exactly am I retarded by using an extreme comparison to prove a point? Just because you can't logically realize I'm blowing things out of proportion to get my point across to you I'm retarded? [editline]5th May 2011[/editline]
To compare to North Korea, they are in the dark 1000 times more than you.
I'm blowing things out of proportion to get my point across to you. I'm retarded
Fixed.
what possible reason would america have to fake bin laden's death NOW of all times anyway? Was obama sitting in his office and suddenly thought "HEY! I KNOW! I think I'll fake osama bin laden's death! I mean, everyone's forgotten about him, time we got some publicity about it!" If america wanted to lie about his death then they had every possible oppertunity to do it in the past. and besides, if he's really alive, all he has to do is release another of his jihad videos and BAM everyone knows he's still alive.
