"I want to try it," CEO Andy Puzder told Business Insider of his automated restaurant plans. "We could have a restaurant that's focused on all-natural products and is much like an Eatsa, where you order on a kiosk, you pay with a credit or debit card, your order pops up, and you never see a person." Puzder's interest in an employee-free restaurant, which he says would be possible only if the company found time as Hardee's works on its northeastern expansion, has been driven by rising minimum wages across the US. "With government driving up the cost of labor, it's driving down the number of jobs," he says. "You're going to see automation not just in airports and grocery stores, but in restaurants." Puzder has been an outspoken advocate against raising the minimum wage, writing two op-eds for The Wall Street Journal on how a higher minimum wage would lead to reduced employment opportunities.
http://www.businessinsider.com/carls-jr-wants-open-automated-location-2016-3
While this is a neat idea that I would be interested in seeing it due the unprecedented futuristic innovation associated with it, this guys motives and logic is pure shit. Who are you going to talk to when something fucks your order up?
They might as well go all out and get a tongue scanner that scans your tastebuds and produces a burger or whatever that suits you perfectly.

hey i was wondering when the ball on auto-food would get rolling
Sure lets get on with it Everything's gonna be automated anyways eventually
Who are you going to talk to when something fucks your order up?
"I'd like to talk to the manager, theres a hair on my soup." "Uhhmmmm.... ERROR!" (wait, how did a hair get on soup on an all robotic restaurant in the first place?...)
Who are you going to talk to when something fucks your order up?
Murderbot V. 3.2.2 Don't worry it's just a name.
Who are you going to talk to when something fucks your order up?
This is a very common misconception. Just because you have "robots" doing the food doesn't mean you won't have anyone to complain to or to interact with. There will be managers to oversee the work and you will complain to them. The really important thing here is that instead of having 15 jobs, you now have 2 or 3, which is still a massive job reduction.
As long as they dispense fancy lad snacks im sold

Shit, if I was in the hospitality industry I'd do the same. Cut costs in the long term. Smart move on his part.
usually between 8 and 10 here at peak hours or like 5 during off hours.
I wonder how they would handle specialized instructions like "easy on the mayo".

Maybe with robots making their food, I wouldn't bite into a chicken sandwich discovering they left a discarded blue cheese packet under the lettuce!
Who are you going to talk to when something fucks your order up?
Robots would only do what the person ordering tells them to do, so if the order is somehow wrong, then that's on the person. At least in theory anyways.
I wonder how they would handle specialized instructions like "easy on the mayo".
By not allowing voice interpretation since people suck at speaking. Have the whole menu a touchscreen or something similar. It'd basically be a more friendly version of the menus that cashiers at food places already use, it's got all those "special case" menu options already there to boot.
I wonder how they would handle specialized instructions like "easy on the mayo".
The same way japanese kiosks already have for fifteen years.
But what will the robots be paid?
Gross, public touchscreens are disgusting
so r doorknobs and bathrooms, youll live
But what will the robots be paid?
The chance to be there I guess.
They might as well go all out and get a tongue scanner that scans your tastebuds and produces a burger or whatever that suits you perfectly.
I also remember that episode of Jimmy Neutron
But what will the robots be paid?
Enough Bitcoins to equal something illegally below minimum wage.
Domo arigato, Mr. Carl's Jr But in all seriousness this CEO is literally doing this for "free" employees, which is technically logical except he'd rather pay for the maintenance and programming of robots, apparently than raise minimum wage.
This is what happens when fast food workers start demanding $15 an hour.
how would things like maggots be prevented from getting into the food if the whole restaurant is run by robots? would you... like, put venus fly traps around the restaurant or something?
