So I decided to dust off my old Wacon volito, and try to learn how to draw in photoshop. I don't have any formation in Art or photoshop, so I am basically, a complete noob. My only experience is animating some simple cartoons and drawing simple stuff in Flash. What do you guys recommend? What tutorials should I see? Were can I start? I've got most of my experience simply by experimenting. Just doodle around and work with all of the different tools. Like most art programs, it will take some time before you're good with it, but you'll get there if you practice.
doodle everywhere, get a style, just constantly doodle. also, it's recommended you start with pencil and paper before digitally.
If you don't have any artistic experience, I strongly recommend you to start with traditional means instead of digital art. Get a sketchbook and take it everywhere with you, draw everything you see, if you're waiting at the bus stop, draw, etc. Draw stuff around you, draw stuff on your desk, practice shading, lighting, shape, perspective. After filling a couple of those sketchbooks you will be better at drawing and I guarantee it. Also, do quick sketches, you can also try the pose maniacs 30 second drawing. It's a bit more advanced because it gets you to draw the human figure which is one of the most complex figures to portrait. Remember quick strokes, move your whole arm not only your wrist/hand. Don't be afraid of drawing from reference pictures or from copying other artists, and don't ever quit on a drawing, if you do, you won't improve. If you ever find it difficult to do something, keep trying until you succeed.
