The Islamic republic’s oil minister, Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, said at the weekend: “As a country capable of supplying gas in very big volumes, Iran is always willing to be present in Europe’s market, either through pipeline or in LNG [liquified natural gas] form.”
Iran – holder of the world’s second-largest natural gas reserves

United States Empire won't take kindly to this.
Why not? USA is already content with its energy supplies both domestically from shale and from canada eventually even mexico. The price of gas in the usa backs up my words. it's 5 times cheaper than in europe.so usa has plenty of it!
EU is usa's closest ally undoubtably, and you don't want a weak ally when Russia is building its sphere of influence again, and even being on the spearhead of projects like the eurasian union due to start in 2015, wich will bring free market both of goods and of labour between its members(so far russia, kazakhstan and belarus have shown strong interest). It's also quite an intrigueing fact agreed upon by the supporters of the eurasian union that without ukraine, this union will be a failed start.
anyways, I would have liked to add that

Meanwhile, exports of crude oil from Iraq’s main export terminal in Basra(south, close to kuwait) have hit the highest levels since 2003, the government has said. Iraq is now producing almost 2.6m barrels per day of crude.
I can't eddit my op anymore.
So basically get Iran to deliver oil to Europe, and tell Russia to go fuck itself? Sounds good.
Thank you Iran.

War been declared.

I'd be more curious about the reaction of Russia
Iraq wars are made quite relevant in light of those recent developments. Why would USA send gas to europe via sea as liquified gas on ships(as obama vowed to do 2 weeks ago) when it's way simpler to just build a pipeline crossing the caucasus or turkey to europe, and have the private vendors(some "big oil", some private but still with big leverage and lobby power in washington/brussels) operating in the middle east sell it to europe?
the northern sea wells are running quite dry, and europe remains(i think) the best market you could ever wish to sell petrol/gas to. the prices are high compared to other places on earth, and despite that, the demand is perhaps the highest in the world.
Russian Separatists take over Eastern Iran
Think about it for a second; this is a goldpot both for the west(wich has been historically invested in energy and logistics(such as the suez) venues in middle east, even to the point of having waged wars in Iraq and Afghanistan)and for the middle east countries wich require a market to sell to, otherwise their resources are useless.Transporting gas/petrol on water from the persian gulf is times more expensive, and the usa is buying less as the time passes.
If europe doesn't act on this offer, China will. They already are doing business with central asian countries like turkemenistan, investing a ton of money and securing up to 70bln cubic meters of gas/ year by the year 2017 or so.
Am I the only one who laughed when it said Iran had gas?

My country (Finland) gets 100% of our gas from Russia :/
Anything that can get it closer to 0, or at least low enough it can never be used to manipulate us, would be most welcome. Having diverse energy sources, even if it's just getting fossil fuels from multiple countries, is imo always a sensible thing to do.
the solution is simple, we must turn to our "friend" the atom and build out nuclear, when your gas supply is between Iran and Russia, neither is the best answer

How kind of them, even if the face of the rising Eastern Coalition.

how does this happen
I love Iran.

Yeah well USA can fuck off.
integrating iran into better ties with europe would be a super wise decision
And right now the plan the South Stream is canceled.
(jk tho I HOPE that would happen someday).
If Iran can bring its ties closer to the EU, maybe it can lessen tensions between the US and Iran and I'd _love_ to see that.
Oh man this is going to make the nationalists around here loose their shit pretty hard.

Probably some shit along the lines of "this is the first step of the muslimization of europe" or some other fucking retarded shit like this.

Is it true that all countries which were somehow related or descend from the USSR really hate Muslims? Because I get that impression a lot :v:

I can only speak for Poland, to be fair. I don't know if I can say they hate Muslims, but the tolerance towards them (and various other things commonly accepted in western countries like homosexuality and such) certainly is on a very low level.
Also I obviously wasn't referring to the whole country, just the nationalist-minded people, of whom we sadly have quite a few.

About the north sea fields, you'd be surprised. I'm fairly certain that a big reservoir was found west of the Shetland island pretty recently. Plus you have to factor in advances in depleted field recovery etc.
